Isaiah Thomas is an idiot. But he's not wrong that the NBA had a lot more depth of great teams and star players in the 80s than in the 90s. The article points out that Jordan was 27 when he won his first title as if that's not fairly old for an elite player to win his first title, but Bird was 24 when he won his first one and Magic was 20.

Thomas always was and still is a double-talking *****.

Still mad at MJ for handing him a sweep in 91.

I remember him and Laimbeer bitching because the Dream Team was picked instead of tryouts being held. Barkley replied to them saying they wouldn't have made it that way either. LOL

I didn't realize until this past week's episode of Last Dance that it's spelled Isiah.

I remember when president Reagan was shot, Thomas’ quote was “he ain’t my cuz”. Thomas has always been a POS.

No disagreement that Thomas is a **** and that the 80s overall has more HoF level star power. That said, I do think the 90s tends to get a little underrated at times simply because the Bulls won all the titles.

Ewing, Malone, Stockton, Barkley, Miller, among quite a few others. Unbelievable, once in a generation talents, but they just weren’t ever better than Michael and the Bulls

Happen to be watching the Pistons 30 for 30 as I type this, and good lord they’re a bunch of bitches. Laimbeer, Sally, Thomas, every one of them. Just a group of ********

Those two also landed with the Lakers and the Celtics. Much better landing places than what the Bulls were when they drafted MJ. Also back in that day most players never sniffed the NBA until they were 22-23.

I couldn't find anything saying Isaiah said that about Reagan. You got a link?

If you talking Magic & Bird, without looking it up and if I recall correctly ... Lakers were alright at time (nothing great) but Celtics were in the cellar or close to it. They did have history and tradition on their sides tho. MJ did build the Bulls. The Bulls had not history or tradition.

You didn't even mention the Rockets who made hay while Jordan was playing baseball. Hakeem was otherworldly.

The Lakers had 3 HOF players outside of Magic in 1980 (Kareem, Spencer Haywood, and Jamall Wilks) The year before Mgic the Lakers won 57 games and made it to the Conference Semifinals.

Bird also had 3 HOF players (Robert Parrish, Kevin McHale, and Nate Archibald) for his first championship. The Celtics were only a 32 win treat before they got bird, but they got Parrish, McHale, in Bird's second season.

The Bulls without MJ are horrible. They won 27 games the year before. He had Orlando Woolridge as the next best player. It was not until his 4th season he got Pippen (the only HOF other HOF player on is first Champ team).

Yeah, didn’t mention David Robinson either who is one of my all time favorites. Really glad that he got himself a ring at the very end before hanging it up
