Isaiah Briscoe comparison: Andre Miller?

I admit, I haven't watched his games or mixtapes like I usually do other recruits. Just first glance this kid reminds me a lot of Andre Miller in his build and his finishing ability.

So, for those who have seen him quite a bit what do you think about his overall game at this point. I'm in no way saying he will be Andre Miller, but that was the first player who came to mind.

Off the top of my head some things have read he is kind of a physical bully on the floor, strong ball handler, improved shot and whatever team he is on usually wins. Mentally and physically vey mature for his age.

His build reminds me of Kyle Lowry.

He just got selected to play in the Hoop Summit on April. Will definitely be tuned in.

Maybe he's the real Deron Williams comparison that people pushed on Andrew. Similar size, build, can play both guard spots, good feel and pace, can be your go-to scorer and also run the team.

this one probably will be more for the 25 and over crowd but just in the little box I have seen of him I'd say Ron Harper.

IB is damn good. UK will be platooning next year. IB and Ulis running a platoon. I would like to know which recruits IB stays in contact with on a daily or weekly basis? It depends on how many of our boys go pro but think about this for a platoon, Briscoe, Matthews, Skal, Newman, Brown. GBB

Lowery has always been the comparison, for my money. He's got way more flair and boogie (as he puts it) in his game than Miller. Better shooter at this stage too. Lowery BECAME the bully with the ball that he is now, and Briscoe can too.

? Wha?

Ron Harper was 6'7", and a complete monster run/jump athlete before his knees gave out on him. No idea where you're coming up with this one.

Do you mean Derek Harper?

I see isiah bristle as a dead ringer to Kurt rambis or the dunking Dutchman himself rik smits but with a little slower walk.

Lowry is listed at 6'0", 200. Briscoe is listed at 6'3", 215.

This is what Rivals says about Briscoe's attributes:

Shooting:Good
Rebounding:Developing
Handle:Outstanding
Passing:Outstanding
Strength:Outstanding

I'm REALLY excited about Briscoe. By reputation, he's a PG who can and will kick arse and take names ... which is exactly what we will need as a complement to Ulis. I think Briscoe will be a much better college PG than Andre Miller -- which, I know, is saying a lot !

Just MHO, of course.

For me, Briscoe seems kinda headed in the slightly less Australian Luc Longley mold in my opinion.

I'm young so forgive me for not knowing anyone before 07 very well but isn't a 6'3 and 215 and "bully" guard almost identical to the descriptions of shelvin mack? Briscoe is said to be able to play the 2 guard as well. Multipurpose and not a clear cut position. Mack had similar reviews if memory serves me correctly but guards don't come that big very often.

Miller is a great comp but most people only know him as the old nba guy. He was as physical of a pg in cbb as there has ever been.

Andre Miller was a first team all-american in college(1999), and you think Briscoe will be a MUCH better college point guard?? Your expectations are unreasonable.

If you're just looking at them, sure, but Andre Miller might have made a dozen shots beyond 15 feet in his entire life. He's ridiculously effective, but his game is unique at that position.

After mulling it over all night I figured out who he reminds me the most of: rony sikley so? Don't care he played for Portland in the 80s and 90s and they have the excact build body type and game hands down!

College John Wall is the closest I can think of. About the same height, but Briscoe is a little thicker (that's what she said). About the same handles. NBA John Wall is heads and shoulders above college John Wall, though.

He doesn't have his speed or overall athleticism. Can't really compare the two.

I actually like the Lowery comparison despite the height differential. How does he play? Like Lowery.

I would have deleted all of my posts and cancelled my account had I made this quote above....

I'm a Briscoe fan, but Andre Miller is a lot better. The other comparisons in this thread are pretty funny. Deron Williams is a lot better too. Harper was a stud, and Wall is in another stratosphere. The only player mentioned that is even slightly similar to IB is Miller, and I have trouble seeing that too.

i made the same comparison two years ago. similar size and skill set. i think miller maybe had a better handle.

Funny reading the experts on the board player comparisons in old threads.
Seems every player that we get is going to be better than (xyz) all star and he's going to dominate.

Hopefully Vanderbilt can live up to the expectations placed on him I read on here.

As far as Briscoe? Glad he's gone.
