What's so bizarre about Bennett is that his success at Virginia is based almost entirely on his teams basically never losing to someone they shouldn't lose to. He wins all those games, mixes in a few wins against big dogs, and voila', Virginia is a 1 or 2 seed.

Then he gets in the tournament and can barely beat anyone. It's weird.

Wow, what if gw actually did beat uva today? i can see it now on wikipedia—Tony Bennett: first coach to lose as a #1 seed to a #16 seed team.
First coach to lose as a #1 seed to a #16 seed team, twice.

UVA ain't losing this but if they do I do not want to hear ever again that Bennett is a great coach . He might win a ton of games every year and win ACC titles but you can't be this ****** of a March coach and be considered anything but above good at best. He is a great coach ....well except when it matters.​

I think the committee will be pretty thorough on how they are gonna be seeding Virginia from this point on if it happens again. They're getting recognition for being in the ACC which doesn't do them any favors when it comes to seeding in the NCAA Tourney.

This team won the regular season of the conference that was so dominate in the committee's minds they got three 1 seeds. I'm sure ESPNs constant pumping of that conference had nothing to do with it though.
