Hinson, Black, Nieberlein, Payne was a decent freshman class. Battle came in with Ellerbe and Remley

Added Tillman to Hinson, black, Brunson, Nieberlein, Payne (transfered out) and Jeff Allen (very productive for Louie at St. John’s)

Nobody thought Rutgers was capable of a Final Four run back in Sellers day either.
And I heard from most of them when Michigan blew RU out in the semis.

True ...but that team
Was built with a nucleus of the class the vitale brought in under dick Lloyd,
, then adding Eddie Jordan in the next class, adding Hollis Copeland the next class and James’s Bailey and abdel Anderson in the next class

We added a major piece to Phil and mike every year...and that’s how you develop a sweet 16 program capable of making a final four run....

Kleinbaum and Scherer? I remember Jeff contributing a bit but did Scherer? I was in Gainesville at the time so I was a bit out of the local loop.

Don't remember - was Jordan in that class also?
No Jordan was the next year then Holis Copeland in the following class and Jammin’ James and Abdel A in the next and then the undefeated and Final 4 train was on the tracks until we got derailed by Michigan.

Getting "tempered" in the BIG early can only pay significant dividends for the future. It also tells prospective recruits that there is a very good chance that they can make the floor if they show the ability rather than ride the pines.

What about Rosario and Etchenique by Fred Hill. Two ***** recruits. Granted it ended badly but great class. Most recent it would be Rice's 2nd year with Mack,Jack,Carter,Lewis and Kone. Was rated top 20.

It's cool Fred, you don't need to come defend yourself.

Good topic. I was thinking about this last week. Jack and Mack came to mind. Like this frosh class a lot.
