Is this the first game ever canceled for any WVU team?

In 2001, the border battle @ Maryland was postponed due to 9-11 cause every game on the week of the 15th was postponed/cancelled.

WVU postponed game @ USF in 05 til last game of season due to Hurricane.


Cancelled for weather/etc? This would probably be the 1st I can remember.

I'm guessing you will find a lot of baseball games that were cancelled by weather.

Don't recall if game was cancelled in Morgantown when JFK was killed.

Kennedy got killed on a Friday and WVU played on the Thanksgiving that followed.

The entire 1918 season was canceled due to the flu and WWI.

In 1954 W&L dropped its football program late and WVU couldn’t find a replacement.

All other games since then have been played, although some were postponed and moved to later dates.

It was to be played on that Saturday, but re-scheduled to Thanksgiving

Yes, we were not very good that year, but as I recall we scored 30+ pts that game and Ed Pastilong had a good game...leaving many to think we had our QB of the future...unfortunately that was his career game, he did little in the following seasons.
