You know the mike Tyson quote “everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth” well that’s cal. St. Peter’s punched us in the mouth and cal knows he has to do something spectacular with sharpe and oscar. Or he wouldn’t have made the comment about recruiting guys back from this team. Cal knows if sharpe bolts he’s finished. There is no replacement for that player and the backlash will be similar to losing in the tournament. The reason he can’t get a guy like Shannon is bc Shannon doesn’t know 100% on sharpe. That’s why the 3 week long hold up of whos going is killing us
If both leave, which is highly likely, it would take a caneintally level of myopia to believe whatever hodgepodge of transfers we would put together could contend. Oscar was a transfer unicorn.

Does Cal have a plan? What the hell kind of question is that? If you don’t think Cal has a plan you must be the dumbest SOB in Kentucky. Anyone that stupid doesn’t deserve to be a Kentucky fan. You are an embarrassment to the BBN.
did he have a plan against WVU his 1st year? did he have a plan against Wi in 2015? did he have a plan against St Peters?
the answer to all 3 is no
it's been 13 years & he still doesn't know how to attack a zone defense.....where's the plan?

the only plan he has is the shady deal he made with Sharpe & his handlers & what did that get UK or its fans

be realistic, he has already stated the only thing that matters is getting kids to the NBA
CCC is nothing more than a 2 faced used car salesman

Honestly I think the plan is
Sahvir, Mintz replacement transfer like Ramey or someone of the like
Cason, Fredrick
Livingston, transfer wing(someone good but not the point that fans get excited as it’ll be a bench player)
Omier/Toppin/Collins
Broome/Ware

Plenty of time and room for change with the names but still solidly a top 10 team. People will complain all off-season until we run some schmucks in the Bahamas and people will buy the hype. We’ll have another good not great season and people’s happiness will be tied to unpredictable postseason results.
That lineup is so lacking it would totally unacceptable . That team might lose 15 games .

I remember explicitly last year the panic when Hickman had decommitted. Kentucky did fine after that getting Wheeler, Grady, and Frederick. I don't think they'll have an issue getting high impact players from the portal this year.

2 years ago I still maintain that Sarr was much better than what he showed. His issue was playing with 1 of the worst backcourts in the program history that put him in a bad spot. Put him on this past year's team and I think it's a much different story. I think more the issue 2 years ago were injuries and a highly disappointing freshman class.
what IMPACT players? they lost in th 1st round of the NCAA to St Peters
Frederick never played a game, Wheeler couldn't throw it in the ocean & Grady froze up when it counted the most.
Yea, GREAT IMPACT

Sarr wasn't successful because CCC played him out of position, just like he did with Skal
CCC NEVER LEARNS from his mistakes & there are many to learn from

I say there is a plan we are not privy to. We will have a solid roster when said & done. I think they will bring in 3 more portal transfers
Perimeter scoring being the biggest need
We need skill out front guys that can score at 3 levels

I think Calipari realizes the heat on him this offseason, and he'll come through this spring and summer and put together a good roster. He's the kind of guy who I think does best when his back is against the wall.

I'll take the bright side approach here. Either Kentucky has a great year next year and Calipari builds momentum for the end of his career, or with another disappointing year I think he's gone and that will appease many fans with going in a new direction.
His back was against the wall after last season . The Boston and Clarke class was pretty hyped up and many thought that would be the class to get us back to the final 4 only to have one of the worst seasons in Kentucky history . We bounced back record wise in the regular season but losing to Saint Peters basically erased all of that .

Just read on KSR that a 7 footer named Diongue is going to visit. Said he wants to go somewhere where they develop him as a player. I guess he won’t be coming here.

Or is cal just thinking 2 5* recruits are going to get it done by themselves? If you’re HC you have to know who’s staying or going by now. Is cal on vacation or something? 9 mill a year and we’re letting other teams take all the top transfers. But hey we got sharpe #1 recruit baby!

Gold standard, haven’t seen him. Haven’t seen any one.

god there’s no plan is there.
It’s April 8th. We won’t know our full roster for at least 2 months. Settle down. Go do something else

That’s the problem with a lot of high school recruits. You don’t truly know how good they are till they start playing in college
and that's why you NEVER give them a major role on the team until you know what they can do.

Instead, our highly paid HOF coach puts a kid that should be a senior in high school in as starting PG for the University of Kentucky.

If there was ever a clear jump the shark moment, that was it.

But he may have topped it with Sharpe.

This year, so far, ALL of them.

Let's hope that changes real soon.

Zero. Nada. Zilch. That's who we've got right now. What a program.

Ok.. but again...which transfer did we miss out on? Which guy that has committed somewhere was someone that UK needed or fans would have wanted?

Spoiler - there aren't any

What sequel is this?? 13? 14?
It's the same thing every year with Cal's system and fans are worn out with the "unknown" roster, every single year since Cal has been here.

I even think it has worn Cal out the last few years since he no longer can choose first. He is having to settle on gleaning the field.

And that alone is killing his ego.

Not going to play that game with you. Not today Satan, not today.

Any player that I would list as a player of need you would just come up with a reason we don't need them.

It's easier to tell you who we have got. Nobody.

I do have a serious question about Cal's recruiting that I would like answered. If it can be answered.

He used to be all over the place. 3-4 homes/cities in a day at times. Tournaments galore. Out seeing the talent with his own eyes. Now during recruiting, and I understand the use of Zoom, it doesn't seem like he's that same city to city to city in a day Calipari. Now it seems like delegate, delegate, delegate.

Is this true? Or do we just not hear about it anymore? Or is this just a misconception on my part?
Probably a combination of everything you mentioned. I mean he was recently in Jersey, Canada and had meetings with Omeer, Broome and someone else I'm forgetting at the time. Also just had the big meeting with the 2024 kid as well. As far as HS kids go, right now isn't at all the time to be meeting with seniors, that's long past.

But you're right, it used to seem like he was more active

We will prob piecemeal together a decent roster . Add a Morehead transfer .. maybe get a directional school type transfer or a 1000 point scorer from the lumberjack league , and all the jock swingers will crow " we are set now " !!!!!! As long as fat, lazy John Calapari is the captain of the ship we are screwed . He simply has given up.

Exactly. Don't give these Cal Lickspittles any information when they demand it. They will just dismiss it and move the goalposts. Their purpose is to annoy and harass, NOT to have a real discussion. Bassy is the poster child for throwing a potato at you when you own his ***.

The plan is to load up on a bunch of athletic guards and forwards who can't shoot, but they play excellent man to man defense.

You can't predict injuries, and Frederick will show himself to be a high level transfer this year.

Despite the end year results, I'm not discounting the success Wheeler and Grady had throughout the season. Wheeler was statistically one of best PG's in college, and Grady's tentative mindset and not his ability are what led to early exit.

I'd be happy to keep taking transfers with their level of production. The hope is to find players who are also good defenders and more aggressively look for their shot.

Program needs guys like Hopkins to come and have success as multi year guys. Tired of Lexington being a 7 month pit-stop. Program badly needs some consistency and continuity.

No reason why Hopkins shouldn’t be a really good 2nd year player.

What happened that’s making him walk after 1 year?
I think Hopkins wanted to stay but when your coach talks out of both sides of his mouth and you play 7 minutes in next 6 games after scoring 13 n 16 minutes to almost single handily win game

MAYBE HE'S THINKING 2 AGAINST 5 IS FAIR ENOUGH AND IT WILL SHUT EVERYONE UP AND PLAYERS WONT LEAVE BECAUSE THEY ARE GETTING ALL THE PLAYING TIME

Patience. April just started. I doubt the best transfer options have even made it known that they are entering the portal yet.

Right now, the key to the season, IMHO, is Tshiebwe’s return. If that doesn’t happen, it’s the same old, same old next year. We need a star to return. That hasn’t happened in a long, long time.

We were lucky tyty was still available. Wheeler and Frederick there were better players available. I wouldn’t be bragging about our last minute gets from last year. 1 was injured all year the other injured at crucial times and the other an under sized pg who cannot shoot

Has anyone ever made you stay somewhere? If he wants to go let him. Why would you want a player that wants to leave?
Trying to sale the kid on the benefits of him staying and letting a kid leave is different. Cal obviously doesn't sale development here at UK, only getting to the league as fast as possible after their 1st year. This is what my gut is telling me. Cal only sales kids on their first year here and not developing. Hence why the majority leave after their freshman year if they don't make it to the NBA.

One thing is for sure, we need a team that actually wants to kick a** and can. None of this barely beating inferior teams or losing to teams like Evansville. A team that wants to and will put teams away.
Sadly I don't think we will because of Cal and because of all the sensitivity stuff nowadays, players don't seem to have an edge to them anymore.
