I would say, in some parts of America, if you show up with an American flag, you might as well show up with a confederate flag in black America. It’s a fricking disgrace that they freedom flag has become defined by marginalized lunatics and miscreants.

this is our flag...for all of us. Men died so that we could all live peacefully under one flag. If we sit idly by as our country’s symbols of freedom disintegrate, we are complicit in its destruction.

In my opinion, it’s views like this that are driving this narrative and add fuel to the fire. The US flag is everywhere and 99% people are just fine with it. There are some nuts out there, sure. But I don’t believe that is more than a vocal minority.

I think everyone would do well to turn off the tv and twitter and take a walk in your neighborhood. You’ll find out people tend to get along just fine.

They're all wrong, just New York City was a particularly bad example because it's so huge.

Obviously no one can guarantee the behavior of any individual person anywhere. You could theoretically go to rural North Dakota or west Texas and still run into a lunatic, but the idea that you should expect to be accosted for flying a US flag in any of those cities, with the possible exception of Berkeley, which is ground zero for loonies and is a college town full of people whose brains are still developing and still are learning how to interact with people int he world, is ludicrous.

Haha, funny timing because I'm in Chicago now. Well, I'm in a suburb literally this minute, but I was in the city earlier today and will be there again tomorrow, but in a different part.
The US flag is flying quite fine in the city of Chicago and also in the burbs too. I expect tomorrow it'll be more of the same since flags were out today(assuming many are out in celebration of tomorrow).


I wouldn't be surprised to find out some in the city of Chicago downtime the flag. Its a city of 3,000,000 people and you are bound to find people who hate most anything. That doesn't mean there is some war on the flag.
The flag isn't marginalized.
