that wasnt the issue today

did you see where we took 36 more fg attempts
Geez.. can't you see the obvious connection? They took just more than half the shots we did.. many wide open and even unchallenged dunks... and they got nearly double the foul calls and 5 times the free throws.

yeah.. we played like crap.. but that has nothing to do with how the refs called the game. Why didn't multiple put back attempts generate foul calls like they do in so many games you see on TV?

Its nuts. Would we have won with some more foul calls? I dunno.. refs only seemed interested in giving Myles freethrows for some reason.

Where were those automatic calls when we go to lay it in and get contact on fast transition plays? That sequence that leads to our last timeout... the very first shot was a foul that gets called in just about ANY game in that same situation.. but not there.

I'd be hard pressed to remember 1 time where I was saying "where's the foul call?"

We took way too many shots off the dribble outside of 10 feet

I thought the refs held their whistle a lot when our wings drove to the hoop. Meanwhile, you only had to look at Teske and he got the call. It gets tiresome the inconsistency. That said, it wasn’t the reason they lost. Ice cold shooting and lapses on D were. Even with the no calls, RU had so many second and third chance opportunities and couldn’t convert.

A little too much dribbling overall. Pass the ball and move. I also thought Myles struggled to get post position against Teske. With our length against other teams playing man defense there is almost always a matchup we should by trying to exploit down low.

Agree with this. We could have used some more calls but we had some looks and they didn’t go down. The team played hard right until the end. It happens.

This was a must game for Michigan and was officiated in that manner but it didn't impact the outcome of the game. RU played a C+ game and Michigan played around B+ to A- and still barely won.

The narrative of the day in college basketball was desperation....teams that absolutely were close to going off the cliff, played that way and some teams that enjoyed extended runs of success, weren't sharp enough today to overcome it.

Xavier and Creighton grabbed much needed road victories to put themselves in a better position for the rest of the month.

Texas Tech, clearly on the bubble, played one of the best games of the year but lost by 3 at Kansas.

Ohio State lost a good guard in DJ Carton, the rest of the roster rallied to beat Indiana....Wisconsin had a bad week with Davison suspended for his groin punch at Iowa and Kobe King leaving the team....scrapped out a gritty win over MSU.

Getting into February and coaches have tough decisions to make...do they shorten rotations even more, which adds more wear and tear on the starters or try to extend their benches and hope for little breakdowns??

the issue with Geo and him not being 100% is an issue I think and if he is 100% he needs to start. I think Caleb took alot of shots today 14 and perhaps being forced to do too much playing 30 minutes. Geo struggled all day playing only 21 minutes..is it a funk or is he not 100%. To me Pike may need to be flexible with that set rotation. Not sure an ailing Geo and Mulcahy is a tandem you want in together and Mulcahys minutes may need to be cut a bit. Young got somewhat back on track today but still some inconsistencies...14 shots in 20 minutes is a lot

Harper and Geo shooting 2-19 from the field is the key stat of the game imo.
Well when the other team can hack away and draw blood in the paint and not get called for it why would you bother driving to make a basket and just take your chances with taking contested outside shoots.

RU did not lose because of foul shots but it also didn't win because of foul shots (3-5 versus 16-24). Come on Bac just give a little here. Geo and Ron stunk up the joint (2-19) no doubt but some more calls inside changes the reliance on outside shooting don't you think?

Eh..

I mean, I don't think we deserved to win this game. But I think if we got the RAC whistle instead of something closer to what you would expect in a true Michigan home game we might have won.

We had many more shots because we dominated the boards and caused more turnovers. Also shots taken are not counted when a foul is called. We often drove to the basket and got got hit by contact and no foul was called. Myles shot 4 of our 5 foul shots and Montez got one foul shot after making a followup after a rebound. It is hard to believe but absolutely none of our other 7 players in the game ever attempted a foul shot.

5 foul shots in total....2 by Myles near the beginning and 2 by Myles at the end of the game.
