One thing to remember with all this conference realignment speculation. SEC and Big 10 typically do a good job of keeping things under wraps. Everyone speculates but then when the conferences do something it's a complete shock to everyone because no one saw it coming. The next round (whenever it is) may be the same.

Miami was top 20 in TV viewership last year playing in a crappy league with a bad TV deal. They'd be top 10 in the Big 10 or SEC.

Maybe so. Maybe not. I've got family that are alumni. Miami's biggest problem long term is that they play an hour away from campus. It's dragging their actual fan base down. If you have ever been on that campus it's beautiful, but there just isn't any place to put a football stadium, not on campus or anywhere close really. They need a 30-45k capacity stadium on campus, but it just isn't possible.

Skipped most of this thread just to say we should embrace Starkvegas and figure out a way to befriend the Choctaws, expand the reservation, have an insane casino nearby the stadium, cater to Birmingham market, and feed NIL. Gonzaga embraced it with Northern Quest. Let’s mix it up

19th in regular season in bad conference. Still plenty big to get SEC & Big 10 attention. Especially when this is a school that could legitimately win a national championship. Non SEC & Big 10 teams above them are #14 FSU & #15 Notre Dame. They’ll be in one conference or the other when the time comes.

IIRC, in the expansion that included Carolina and Jacksonville, before that was announced, Memphis made a huge effort to get a team and was hanging on every moment of that announcement. It was a huge let down for the city.

More specific for UofMemphis, was the invitation to the BigEast. UofMem was so excited about that. Press conferences? News story upon news about it, billboards.... then the conference fell apart before one game. Hahahahaha.

I would think that the SEC would try to get in the SMU/Dallas Market before Lubbock

Almost all of Dallas is locked up with UTA and TAMU fans. That pretty much owns the rest of the state as well. Just can't see us adding TCU or SMU.
