Gonna straddle the fence. He's all 3. Sometimes we look top 2-3 in the league. Other times we look bottom 2-3 in the league. Wake up and have and identity already.

Neb has lost 7 of its last 8 games

you can probably eliminate the first and third choices and hope that he can one day develop into a reasonably competent power 5 coach

I’m gonna go with a bad coach. But I really hope I’m wrong. We should be seeing some kind of improvement in the 3rd year. I just don’t see how it gets any better.

Bad Coach... really? Scott has put in the work. How about you add...
*Inherited a **** Show that is a combo of Callahan destroying Tradition/Pelini’s inability to recruit in the BIG 10/ and Mike Riley (enough said). As frustrated as I was today there were some real glimmers of hope. Frost has some tough decisions to make on “O”, I’d expect to see more and more of the young guys start to take over the snap load.

Indeed!

I'd give him at least a decade!

My main issue is the apparent willingness to change. He is not going to play the young guys. He is not going to just let Omar do what he wants in practice and play on Saturdays. I got it last year with Luke and the young guys. They were protecting the future by redshirting them. But why not this year? Play the 2019 freshman.

Frost needs to relinquish the play calling and let Lubick run he show. How many times do you need to call a four yard pass play on third and ten to see it isn’t working? How many times do we need to get cute in the red zone instead of pounding it in the end zone? How many times do we need to play slow, hands of stone walk-ons over fast and talented young receivers with speed?

He played true freshman today. Fleming, Betts, Scott, etc.

That’s just major suckage. Think about it? Since when did we stand for losing 7 of 8 games EVER? If this was almost any other coach he would have been fired in the tunnel.

I think you’ll see the young guys play. I do think AM’s INT into the end zone was Frost saying that’s it, I’m done. He rode Luke the rest of the way and you’ll see him start next week. Luke’s feet will open up our passing game too.

So a bad coach took UCF from 0-12 to 13-0 in a matter of 2 seasons? I think he has not done the best job at Nebraska, but I don’t think he is a bad coach.

RECRUITING! It’s been my biggest beef with him. He should be hauling in much better classes given his age and pedigree. He was the hot coach and should be making Nebraska the hot school. I looked a while back and we’re ranked around 20th in the country over the last 3-4 years in recruiting. That’s not going to get it in the long haul. We need a couple top 10 classes. Look at North Carolina. Sheesh, the guy is raking in major talent and he’s on social security for christ’s sake! Scott badly needs a few stud recruits to open the flood waters and wake the sleeping giant.

He knows more about football than I ever will. But these first three years he has been a bad coach. It’s not getting better, it’s getting worse. That’s what scares me. I sincerely hope I’m proven wrong. But I’m tired of every week thinking this will be the week that things get better. But it has not happened in 27 games under Scott Frost. It gets old. I constantly see new coaches change programs in weeks not years. I’m tired of firing coaches but he needs to be held accountable for what he has been doing.

Frost won the lottery with McKenzie Milton at UCF. It also helped that he had a roster full of Florida speedsters playing in a conference that plays zero defense.

Meanwhile his mentor Chip Kelly is getting blown out by the Buffs tonight. The game has passed them by.

We have more than enough talent to be able to run basic pass plays like every other school and complete (mostly 5 yd WR standing still) passes better than 44% like what happened today.
We’re consistently losing to programs who recruit worse.
It’s coaching.

Don’t disagree but I’ve drank that Kool aid for a long time and it’s wearing thin on me. How the hell does Maryland, a team we crushed, win back-to-back games and score 40+ points. No no, this is on Frost. He needs to improve. No other way to sugar coat it.

Could be. Maybe the swing pass was the thing of 2014-2017. Kinda like the option died after 2003.

Maryland is leaning heavily on 2 young 5 star caliber players on offense. The defense is feeding off that confidence.

Agree Scott has some tough decisions to make in the coming weeks. Always hard to bench players that have put in the work for your program but aren’t getting the job done. If Scott wants to get over the hump the “youth movement” needs to start at Penn State.

It was also probably a thing when there was a deep threat, other plays in the arsenal, passes were quick and on target, and the OL wasn’t getting 5+ penalties a game constantly backing you up.

Seriously though....I don’t see any other Division 1 teams running swing passes anymore. The game has evolved.

Even the worst college football coach knows more about football than any of us do. Saying Frost does isn't saying much.

With that being said, I agree with everything else you said.

It’s in the best interest for both parties. I don’t see AMart happy out there. He looks uncomfortable and tense. Frost putting him out there and setting him up for failure isn’t in Martinez’s best interest. He can stay with us a as a back up and work hard but it’s time to hand the keys permanently to Luke.

Isn't this team generally "young"? It is year three, his recruits are all over the field and we have not seen the improvement. How long can you say we need better recruits, we need more time, look at the mess he was left, etc. It was like Obama always blaming Bush, eventually he has to own it.

Who are these young guys you speak of who are so good? It's his job, his neck, he gets to decide who is on the field. Why does just playing the young guys all of a sudden make a positive difference?

For the record, while the cupboard wasn't overflowing with talent when he came, it wasn't bare either. Why did Martinez have a decent freshman year? He had a decent o-line, Farmer & Co., a 1,000 yard rusher which we haven't come close to having since, and Stanley as a consistent receiver. A lot of guys left, why is the question but several are starting at other schools.

If it’s any consolation, Ohio State is putting an even worse ***-whipping on Rutgers than they did NU. I feel like the Buckeyes could run the table this year drawing their starting lineup out of hat, the day before each game.

about to hit his stride. team is imporving in a lot of ways. fixing the QB position is the next hurdle. keep positive
We seem to have some better pieces in place. Had to replace many, many pieces. At this point, why not wait another two or three years? This year has a major asterisk by it, for all teams. I DO hope we identify an identity and recruit to it, and it becomes obvious what it is. Right now, our main "thing" is we commit terrible and untimely penalties. Every game.

I think he is great at drawing up plays and scheming. Lately I'm having major reservations about his play calling.
