His Ohio Senate race against Amy Acton was essentially a toss up, and then he or one of his super PAC's decided to run that attack ad featuring Acton's estranged mother, who lost custody of Acton when when she was a kid and her new husband (Acton's stepfather) was indicted for raping Acton. A truly horrifying story all around. Whether or not that alleged rape occurred, it seems to me an act of desperation to make it the basis of an attack ad, particularly in the age of the "Me Too" movement. I think Ramalamadingdong just lost himself that race, as polls are showing a decidedly negative response to the ad, and a bunch of Republican politicians (including Ohio Governor Mike DeWine) are distancing themselves from it.

Well, we will see. But a variety of more recent polls are showing Acton's lead widening. Obviously, a lot of people think that attack ad was, to put it charitably, a bad idea.

Personally, I am not offended by the ad but I can see that many people would be. Probably hurts Rama swami. Many people are falsely accused of sexual abuse -- with the McMartin case out of Los Angeles being one of the most prominent where it took 7 years to debunk false charges that were based on interviewers suggesting to children that they have been abused.

If what the mother said about Acton being a liar is true, then I am fine with the ad. If not, then the ad is reprehensible. And many of actons claims sound far-fetched, like she lived in a tent and had moved around 18 times. (Her mother says four times) Several months ago she called for felony prosecutions with respect to a man that didn't get within 10 ft of her and was simply slightly pushing people to take pictures. An obvious lie.

Vivek's main problem is that he is out of touch with ordinary people. Luckily, if Acton is elected she can't do much damage because the Ohio legislature is solidly Republican as well as the Ohio supreme court.

Forget for a moment whether the stepfather did or did not commit the sexual assaults, and whether the ad is in poor taste. Why go there at all? It's not like he was way behind Acton. Putting out that attack ad was a BIG gamble he probably did not need to take, and it appears to have backfired on him.
