or can he still be a factor this year? Just seems like he is halfway out the door to me. He was a descent player last year, just wondering is playing Green at SG and deep benching Herro at least for a couple of games maybe a solution.

Cal gotta do something!

I think you know the answer. He will contribute here and there. May even be key player in a game or two. But he is never gonna be a go to. He had a really bad game today. He does not need a lot of PT. He is too inconsistent. Is he gone? I’d say he never arrived.

LOL bench Herro who had 1 TO in big mins, but just an off shooting night from deep for 2 pts, zero ast and 3 TOs. How in the hell would that help? God yes he is too far gone. Kid is a liability every time he touches the floor I hold my breath. Today he came in took a bad shot that barely hit the bottom of the rim then threw 2 bad passes to their players and fouled. 2pts, zero ast and 3 TOs. He is our least athletic player, worst defender, low BB IQ, and seems like he wants to be the man with some of the shots he takes which is scary. When he comes in nothing good happens. I almost wish he would have transferred and Maxey came early.
If your honest with yourself he hasn't done anything since before the SEC tourney last year. He is what he is. I had hoped he could be a knock down scorer, but his D and passing is too much of a liability to have out there. His shooting isn't even that great these days. I would rather see what Baker can do with those mins.. Quade needs to get use to the bench and only come in when we have large enough leads he can't do too much damage. He isn't half of what Ulis was like I thought he might be. As harsh as it might sound he really doesn't deserve any mins of of right now.

He's the team's best shooter and worst defender. So unless you are going to get him shots he's useless out there.

Quade will contribute but he's limited. You saw in the game to day his problem. When we play bigger teams he's just gets dominated athletically. Quade will have to adjust to being a role player. He can't be the star of the team. Hagans is ultimately going to have to take the team over.

Didn’t Quade play good D on the Alabama PG Sexton? I mean if he can guard that guy there is no reason for him to be struggling this bad. I think it is all mental with him right now.

I was saying the same thing to a coworker of mine the other day.

It’s becoming more and more apparent what his role is and it’s not very much. Cal is gonna ride Hagans and Quickley at the point and Herro at the 2. Green is about to become obsolete and will go somewhere that will play him at the point because all his pro prospects, even if just overseas, ride in that. Cal ain’t gonna do it.

It feels like a few of them have checked out mentally. Richards, Quade, PJ 50% of the time, and EJ all look like they're going through the motions and that basketball isn't fun to them anymore. I'd like to see Cal get back in to organizing team activites and teambuilding exercises. The best we've looked all year was at the Bahamas where the kids were smiling and having fun with each other, spending all of their excess time together. They just happened to look like a well oiled cohesive unit, whereas now they aren't even close to looking like a cohesive unit. There's much more to it that just that but I do believe it is paying a part in this team's struggles.

Quade has clearly regressed and Nick is as lost as he was all of last year. I'm sick of Cal signing these borderline 5 star recruits based on athleticism and potential. Quade can't stay in front of anyone and may be the worst passing guard of the Cal era. He can score but not at the clip at which he gives up points. I'll be surprised if he stays through the season. I don't know or care what Nick does.

He can help and is a good shooter but throws away way to many passes and uses bad judgement a lot, I agree with the Colonel it wouldn't surprise me to see him leave he don't even look happy and is certainly not playing like he can.

Could you guys imagine how bad the team would have been last year if Cal didn’t flip Shai from Florida. I mean in hindsight what was Cal thinking when we got Quade?
I would put that behind the unexpected run of 2014 and the Knox and Murray very late commits as key events that help avert more dissatisfaction.

As for Quade he just gets overwhelmed physically, needs 10-15 pounds of muscle to compete at this level as well as a lot more toughness. He should have never let that bad outlet pass at midcoast go that unchallenged. Same as the late inbound vs UT last year.

3 turnovers in 10 minutes from a supposed ball handler-we need his offense so bad but he simply makes to many bizzare decisions

Yesterday he had the ball at the top of the arc with herro on his right unguarded begging for the ball and quickley(?) to his left guarded by two men, so he throws the ball to the left directly to sh player which i think led to a score. the cat’s head is definitely not into basketball right now.

Green appears to be sulking. I’ve never been that high on Green. I think Cal should continue to stick with Herro, Hagan, and Quickly. I believe these 3 guys will pay huge dividends by January. Their freshman and need to play if we are going to make a run in March. Herro is obviously struggling but his shots will start falling in time. Hagan is improving each game and so is Quickly. EJ is the key to a run in the tournament. If PJ continues to contribute like yesterday and Johnson continues to improve by putting to halves together look out. I choose to remain positive about this team and Cal. We don’t have any BBNM’s that hate to loose worse than Cal. He will get these kids playing defense for 40 minutes and the offense will come around. If you can’t be patient then don’t watch any games until February. If some of our members don’t clam down they may need to see a therapist in the near future. We have a lot of talent on this team and they will get it together, just be patient.

He’s not a one on one scorer.... and cal is OCD on trying to put square pegs into round holes

This entire team lacks the elite 1 on 1 skill set cals offenses need but he still runs the offense 75% of the game and the inside out KU style offense that works with this team only 25% of the time

Sounds like hes bitter that Hero is getting the bulk of the minutes at the 2.

I say bench his *** if he cant compete.

I think that Quade MAY be causing a lot of our chemistry issues...

He made a horrible turnover yesterday, while NOT throwing the ball to an open Herro, and never saw the floor again.

I suspect that Cal will do what he has to do to get the negative attitudes in check.

I was really glad when he decided to come back to UK, but in hindsight, it may have not been the decision for him OR the team.

I could be wrong, but I've been thinking this for awhile now, and the longer I watch him, the more I believe it.

Quade was overrated coming out of high school. There were people on this board that thought he should be playing ahead of SGA last year. He can help us in spots...particularly against zones.

Green is giving us nothing and don't get me started on Richards. The one thing I am growing increasingly tired of hearing is, all of the NBA talk with these players. This player has to do this, to get to the next level, this player needs to work on this to get the next level. This player won't be playing inside in the NBA so he has to stretch his game. This player won't be a point guard at the next level, so he needs to work on his shooting. Cal has turned UK into a training camp for the NBA. I don't watch the NBA due to the fact that over half of the players don't belong in the league. They are basically stealing money from these teams. Take the game last night between the Celtics and Bulls. Boston beat them by over 50 points and the players on the Bulls are "professional players." I can't believe people actually pay good money to watch these games. Hell some teams shoot 30-40 3's per game.

QG and NR should go ahead and leave at the semester break so Cal will never again have the chance to put either in a game.

Richards is the oddest of the bunch. We saw some decent skills in the beginning of two seasons and then someone who should never be out there. The best I can tell is he is better as a face up player than a center. Sort of Skal light if that is even possible.
