I Would never root for Kansas vs anybody. Their fans are the worst. The officials have handed them 4 wins a year every year for the better part of 20 years. They act like Self walks on water. His toupee might float in water, but His teams are perennial flameouts. KU is Iowa State without the ref's rim jobs.
I never got the "rooting" for another team.
I mean yeah sure if my team needs another team to lose in order to achieve something definitely but if Kansas and Duke play each other at the beginning of the year and I'm watching, I can't say I'm rooting for anything lol

But you guys weren't excited when Duke went down? I wasn't jumping for joy when Kansas was.. but I was actively rooting for them to take down Duke. Remember, at that time, the Duke slurp fest was real. Coach K didn't bail, Allen wasn't the full on scumbag he is now, injuries weren't too bad..
I hate Kansas, but I can admit I was rooting for them, for those 2 hours. Duke losing also gave us the #1 ranking for two weeks, helping close the gap on UNC.

I seldom watch a game unless I have some rooting interest. Like I would never watch TCU vs Texas Tech. Or Wake Forest vs Clemson. I also don't like to watch games where I hate both teams. Like Duke vs UNCheat. I need something to root for or against.

This is a team with a fictitious bird as their mascot. This is a fanbase that keeps flapping their gums despite their team's overall 7-22 record v UK. I hope we win by 50.
Kansas is a pretty stout team. The do seem to play down to their competition. But they are a tough matchup for anybody.

Kentucky, the #5 team that starts 4 freshman and 1 sophomore will not easily beat or kill Kansas, the #2 team with tons of upperclassmen and experience. To say otherwise is to be a complete buffoon.
Not only are we more talented and deeper then KU but I think the biggest factor in the game is the intangibles. We want revenge and this game is more important for us then it is for KU. If we don't win this game a 1 seed will be tough to get in the Tourney where as if KU loses they could still get a 1 seed easily if they take of business in the weak Big XII.
I'm curious, do you think we play in a "real conference"?
It's the "pot calling kettle black" for UK fans to be throwing the weak conference argument at Kansas (or anyone else) this year. After all, the SEC is the conference with that obscenely awful 1-30 record against ranked teams this year, not the Big 12.

Big12 is better than the SEC.. I think that he means is that they appear to bow down to to Kansas, while SEC teams make us their superbowl.
Riddle me this though:
If the BIG12 truly is better, and the SEC sucks.. how come Kentucky struggles to win on the road in a crappy conference while Kansas doesn't against such great competition? Keep in mind Kentucky is 4-2 against Kansas.
So Kentucky, being the better team the last 7 years, has trouble with road games against inferior opponents, while Kansas, the inferior team, has no trouble winning road games against BETTER competition? Something doesn't add up, and it isn't just Kentucky's youth..

Awesome. Thanks for posting this. I wonder what causes this.. Young teams? Bad officiating? Is there a need to put people int he stands by having the home team win?
Whatever it is, it's BS. The SEC is equalizing the league and bringing everyone to the middle. Ok, that's cool if you're Ole Miss or Alabama.. but it's a slight if you're Kentucky or Florida. You're hampering good teams. What would be Kentucky's record/seeding otherwise? Or maybe more importantly, could the SEC get more teams into the tournament, by letting the bad teams truly be bad.
Again, those are eye-opening statistics. Explains why playing away games feels like you're playing against an army. Let bad teams be bad, and the great teams be great.
These people who think that we are just bad defensively are in for a rude awakening. Look at Ol Mill and AnM games reffed much more evenly. We hedged instead of switching. Watch what we do vs kansas. These Kansas Guards last year could not contain Ulis and Murray last season Self went to a gimmick defense. Go back and look at Selfs halftime comment. Fox is John Wall fast and turns the ball over far less sorry Fox is as good as Ulis maybe not better overall but let's just say if u can't keep Murray and Ulis from doing what they want last season. Your sure not going to keep Fox and monk from doing what they want. As for us defensively u do know Murray was a poor defender until about the middle of Feb last season. Briscoe can stay in front of anyone. Now if Monk catches fire kansas's d or anyone can do anything about it. He is just that kinda kid. As for inside. If Bam stays out of Foul trouble he will dunk on Lucas five times at least. My guess is Cal goes into Bam right off and Lucas is in foul trouble within the first five min. If you double Bam. Well the last two games Gabriel and Willis are shooting 60 percent from 3 combined and have averaged 20 pts and 11 rebounds and 2 blocks from the four spot. Bragg can't guard either of them and help on Bam. Try and zone us and realize Briscoe is hitting 40percent from 3. Monk is hitting 40 percent from 3. Mulder is hitting 40 percent from 3 and since league play started Gabriel is 6 of 10 from 3 and Willis is 8 of 18. We get an average whistle and Bam, Fox, and Monk avoid foul trouble and everyone else continues their current trend. We beat Kansas by 15 or more. Still think we win by 8 or more under less than ideal circumstances.

It's hysterical some of the claims they are making. Even the national media thinks Briscoe is an all-american worthy defender.. But nope.. he couldn't defend top15 recruit and 3rd year Wayne Selden, while Briscoe was halfway into his Freshman year, 30lbs lighter and 3 inches shorter.. @ Kansas no less.. Yep, he's a bad defender.

I don't think Kansas fans realize just what had to go right for them to beat Kentucky last year for their 1st win during Cal's tenure. Oh well..
He didn't even guard him the whole game. Seldon was just in the zone it happens. Does anyone really think Monk will drop 47 vs a top 10 opponent every night cause of one game but by their logic they think they can. Truth is we had Kansas on the ropes last year in the first half and Self went to a junk defense and our third three point shooter fouls out with 9min left. We had no inside game and they barely beat us. Ulis is great but I have been a UK fan for almost 40 years and I have never seen a guard doing what Fox can. Against Miss. St. Vandy to if Cal had of wanted to clear out and let Fox and Briscoe take their man to the basket the whole game he could have. When it got crunch time he just says go take over and they do.
