If we finish the season with 4, 5 or even 6 wins, how can the case be made that we "high caliber offensive coaches"? Why would a new head coach come in and retain coaches from a staff that led to the previous coach's firing?

Exactly. This would apply to any new regime change in any business application. You bring in people that you have either worked with before, or have had contacts with in the past.
