actually does the job he is paid $5m for as the head coach. He admitted yesterday that he was involved in preparing the offense on the Iowa returned KO for tough down. He also admitted he should have communicated with AM on the last drive. He needs to give up calling plays. If he wants to call plays he should relinquish the head job. This team needs a CEO which is what Scott is suppose to be and he's not doing his job!

A successful CEO surrounds him/herself with a proven, high-quality winning team. When they don't, you often get the results that we have seen for the last two years.

I believe it would be better to have a true OC but I doubt it will happen as Frost wants to prove he can do it.

I believe Nebraska needs a CEO as a HC who can fix these holes in our program. I hope Frost is the man for that.

I think he needs to hire competent people to run the defense and special teams, so he doesn’t need to micromanage them. I, personally, don’t have a problem with him calling the plays, TO did it after all.

I agree. Outside of maybe 2 minute drill and/or potentially game winning drive, he should relinquish the role of play caller. For those occasions he could and should reserve the right to take over, but honor that only in those instances will he do it. Otherwise he should just trust someone that gets paid for money to do so he can focus on everything as a whole.

Jovan Dewitt needs to go. I feel bad for the guy but he sucks and word on the street is all of the players hate the guy

Just because TO called the plays as a head coach doesn't mean that Frost should or is capable of being a head coach and play caller. Two different people.

True. I still have no problem with him calling the plays.

If so we are fu_____ and it is going to be a long 5 or 6 years with all of these extensions given for little or no results better than the 4/5 previous coaches bros and bras

Different eras, I don’t believe Frost should be calling plays. He’s even admitted that he doesn’t focus or interact with the defense during games bc he’s focused on play calling. Here’s what I think needs to happen:

-Frost needs to give up his OC duties so that he can see clearly all areas of HIS team.
-Fire Walters and hire a top offensive coordinator.
-Fire Dewitt, find a ST’s coach.
-Keep Chins 1 more year. Perhaps strongly consider switching to the 4-3.

What Scott has said, is the best evidence that he needs to relinquish the play calling role.

I heard that too. Dude can’t answer questions until he watches video. Maybe he is trying to be like TO. Problem is, Scott Frost and Tom Osborne should not be in the same sentence as coaches.

I suppose he will learn. If young guys like PJ Fleck and Matt Campbell can do it, Scottie can eventually.

The fact that some media/fans feel the need to ask the question about special teams says it all about Dewitt. He needs to hire someone that can get the job done without his intervention. But he won’t.

it's amazing how much affect a reliable kicker can have on a season

I called that early on too. I said is missing Barret Pickering was going to hurt us worse then many of us realize. Having an ACE kicker in close games is a must. We also need a special teams guy cover our coverage teams and return teams. We are an absolute train wreck there.

One of the biggest failures in upper management jobs are people that get promoted but still try to do their old job. We will see if HCSF can put aside the stubbornness and learn.

I have no bones with you (or anyone) posting your opinions, I do it myself. But will you PLEASE stop acting like you know what Scott Frost will or won’t do? None of us have clue if he will fire someone when it’s needed or not. Until he got to Nebraska, all he’s done is succeed. We are now seeing, for the first time, Frost struggling and failing. We will see soon enough if he will indeed make changes or not.

my thoughts...Scott Frost isn’t stupid, he’s got eyes, ears and a brain. He also LOVES his Huskers, the team he’s in charge of. If coaches aren’t getting it done and holding our Huskers down....I don’t see him refusing to fire someone. That’s just stupid thinking, thinking that he won’t. He loves the Huskers more then we do. He wants to win and get us back to the top as bad or more then anyone on this board or out there. Believe that.

Both those guys learned at a lower level. Scott started there but really had a great group of players that he inherited. Campbell called plays last year while his oc spent a year with the colts. Other then that, he's a ceo

Scott Frost is a bad coach. That is the bottom line. If we keep the same coaches we will get the same results next year.

Scott will not fire his friends until it is too late just like Callahan. He will keep inept coaches that have no idea what they are doing. Look at the product on the field. We are worse than 2 years ago. It will lead to his removal eventually if he does not change. If we keep the same coaches next year we will get the same results.

If you say so, you’re acting like your best buddies with Frost and you know what he will do or won’t do. It makes me laugh when I see guys like you that act like they know what a coach is thinking and what he will do before does or doesn’t do it. Maybe Ghost Adventures need to hire you as psychic to come in help them find their ghost and demons lol.

Sorry but Frost has only been coaching for a few years, at UCF they where killing it, so naturally I get why he wouldn’t fire anyone while there and I also get why he’d assume and hope the same thing would work here at Nebraska. He hasn’t been coaching long enough for ANYONE to know his tendencies on hiring or firing coaches. If he’s trying to be like Tom Osborne, then he will fire someone if things aren’t working. TO himself even made changes and I’d have to assume Tom would get into Frosts ear and suggest to him to do just that if it’s needed.

yep, you lost all credibility right there. Your just a dam troll...NEXT!!! Scott Frost himself isn’t a bad coach. He does have some bad coaches on that staff, I’ll give you that. But Frost himself isn’t a bad coach. That’s just stupid.

And I’m whiling to bet you anything he will make some changes. He has to, the special teams was an absolute train wreck and that needs attention to. Scott Frost wants to win here and succeed here more then any of us FANS want us to. And if he sees special teams and areas like that need fixing and a coach is holding it back...he will make a change. Believe that!!!

This, IMO, is the #1 issue with NU right now. We have no one in charge. Frost clearly can't handle the CEO position and the OC position at the same time. Maybe if he relinquishes the OC job he will start to actually grow as a HEAD COACH.

Just look at Ed Orgeron. The guy has never even been a coordinator in his entire career, never called a play in his life. But if you hire a good, experienced staff that recruits their tails off, good things will happen.

Ironically, LSU has 3 former Husker coaches/players on their staff - Mickey Joseph, Corey Raymond, and Bill Busch. And a Husker legacy at QB.

I still firmly believe Scott Is the man for the job, my biggest fear is that he did a bozo and hire all his buddies, I know they did a good job at ucf but there’s a big difference between ucf and the big 10. Only time will tell and if things don’t work out I’m hoping frost has the balls to no only fire them but hire the best coach for that position.

That's the million dollar question. One I still haven't figured out. Milton had to have been a big part of it. UCF is just an above average AAC school without him now. There was some NFL talent on that team as well. However, Frost and his staff clearly are responsible for turning them around in such a short time. That's why he is here.

My thoughts revolve around Frost's inability or refusal to give up play calling and become the CEO of this team. He could get away with it at UCF because of the competition. However, in the Big Ten, someone has to be in charge of making the critical game time decisions and to challenge what the coordinators are calling in critical situations.

Fair assessment. I think the criticism of the coaching staff is warranted in many aspects..

But, here are a few items that give me hope:

1) O-Line showed solid improvement over the year
2) Defense adjusted well against Iowa, showed flashes of what could be
3) I-backs will be solid next year..
4) Penalties and turnovers are down
5) team was still playing hard and kids were pumped even after two years of adversity so the coaches must be doing something right there
6) lots of redshirt talent coming in...

Here’s hoping..

Turner Gill turned Buffalo around quickly. Dan Hawkins turned Boise State around quickly. Darrell Hazell turned Kent State around quickly. Tim Beckman turned Toledo around quickly. Jim McElwain turned CSU around quickly. Charlie Strong turned around Louisville quickly. Rich Rod turned around West Virginia quickly.

Success at a lower level does not guarantee success in a major conference. Power 5 football is a different animal. You're going against much better coaches. You're dealing with different types of players/recruits who have bigger egos. You have more non-coaching responsibilities, more media and boosters you have to deal with.

If you look at the top coaches right now, many of them were not previously head-coaches at lower-level schools - Dabo, Day, Riley, Orgeron, Smart, Whittingham, Mullen, Chryst - none of them were mid-major coaches. It's all about being able to recruit, develop, hire good assistants, and manage egos.

I heard that, too. And I was thinking, where is the special teams coach. Is that dewitt? even if he was in the press box, they should have a chain of communication to tell the ko team what they need to know. But, someone forgot to tell them the objective is to play your lane and get a tackle.

These are some excellent examples showing the improvement and hope for the future. I actually think the entire coaching staff needs to remain intact for at least 2 more years. But, I strongly believe Frost has to take on that CEO mentality in order to save the jobs of some of his colleagues. Otherwise, he may learn the hard way.

Because it wasn't the turnaround that people think.

UCF's 0-12 was an anomaly. They were 31-9 in the 3 seasons prior to the 0-12 (47-31 from 2010-2015....and that's including the 0-12 in 2015...take that off, and they're 47-19 from 2010-2014....9+ wins a season average). UCF had been to 7 bowls between 2005 and 2014, with wins over Georgia in the 2010 Liberty Bowl and a Fiesta Bowl win over an 11-1 Baylor team in 2013. The previous coach, George O'Leary had a couple of bad seasons mixed in before 2015, but won an average of 9 games in his bowl seasons.

People act like UCF was losing games right and left for years before Frost got there. They weren't.

I suspect the 0-12 season had more to do with internal issues than a lack of talent.

His undefeated team of 2017 is a 9-4 team in the SEC or B1G.
