the decision to terminate was in any fashion influenced by the threads here such as: no season ticket renewal pledge, et. al.?

I constantly see "cigar boys" pulling all strings, but you know information about the fan base's refusal to be force fed any Moorshit had to send a chill down Cohen's spine.

I read this board almost as a reflex when I get a couple minutes of downtime, so I'm sure my ideas are probably skewed...but...maybe?

If it's being said here, it's being said to his face by people who matter. We all look at the sky from different locations, but it's blue everywhere.

What do they say about Occam’s razor in psych 101? Usually simplest solution is the right one. Moorhead was brought in to win with offense. He failed at that and it was clearly not improving.

Yes, I 100% think that it had an effect. It basically summarized the thoughts of the fan base. A lot of lost money was posted in that thread.

How many people post on these 2 boards combined?

Its a VERY VERY small percentage of state fans, and honestly message board people are not the most rational. I find the opinions on here/there tend to be the more extreme end of the fan spectrum.

If they do put much stock into it, they are not smart. But the combination of these boards + Twitter + Facebook + whatever the kids these days are using probably does play a bit of a factor in gauging the fanbase's temperature

What’s really crazy to me though is that a lot of people I know, who do not follow any MSU message boards, were more fed up with JM than most of the posters here.

I mean, hell - even my wife wanted him gone after last season. I was more patient with the guy than she was.

Exactly! I thought it was just me. I don't do Facebook, and most of my friends that do FB regularly were livid much earlier than I've seen any of the boards. I had friends that don't do message boards texting me during TN game cussing and calling him worse names than I've seen on a board. Asking why is he still our coach after 2018. I thought the boards were easy on him. One reason I refrained from posting much during the season, I thought my disdain for the product differed from the boards, mostly.

I think it had zero effect on any decisions that were made. If I were an AD, I would probably designate a staffer to frequent message boards and pick out the more hilarious and the most radical **** and print it up for me to read to remind me just how “ out there” some of our fans are lol. Knowing what I know about message boards, I know that the last place I would go to gauge fans’ feelings would be message boards.

If it's being said here by all of us

If it's being said here, it's being said to his face by people who matter. We all look at the sky from different locations, but it's blue everywhere.

That's 60% of the fan base. If it's being said by everyone on Elite Dawgs and some of us here....20%.

I'll admit I was late on the "its time" train. The people I know that dont post anywhere actually made me see the light of day. Drebin welcomed me to the party after Tennessee.

His offense was definitely regressing. He never seemed to have an effective game plan and he got exposed by every defense he faced in the second half of games. The offensive performance against elite defenses was abysmal.

Not only was he a poor leader, he was a terrible game day and in-game coach in comparison to all the others in this league.

When you have Tutorgate, LB breaking starting QB’s eye socket, 5 players skipping a bowl practice and getting blown out by Louisville, JoeMo wasn’t trending in the right direction..

I agree it's the sum of multiple platforms walking Joe to the plank. I just really thought a thread on the most level headed board (for what it's worth) that had about 75-80 people saying things like "I'm not renewing after 25 years" with maybe 2 holdouts among that 75-80 would NOT go unnoticed.

You know people on staff in the athletic department read the board. Hell, my 66 year old mother told me she was reading six-pack yesterday to get an idea of what was going on.

Also, my wife went to bulldog burger last night for a girls night. She said the whole Moorhead family was there enjoying dinner and being friendly to everyone around. I couldn't believe it when she told me. I feel like I would have been home embarrassed and upset. She said she was very impressed with his demeanor and boldness. I thought it was worth a mention.

I'm glad Joe and family were taking it like that. He probably knew the writing was on the wall all along but it would have to be a shock and embarrassment when the firing actually happened. He certainly won't be lacking for money like most who lose their jobs, but it's good to hear that they're holding their heads high. I liked Joe. He just wasn't the coach we need. He may actually feel relieved with not having to coach in the SEC West any longer.

As the dust settles we're going to more and more understand what happened here. We had an incompetent AD hiring a very naive (and under qualified) HC candidate. There is plenty of blame to go around but I'll always contend an experienced and competent AD wouldn't have gotten us or Moorhead in this predicament.

That's what I keep thinking. If a "sign of decline" for a HC is forcing him to replace staff, doesn't that = AD being forced to replace major hires?

The elephant in the room isn't Moorhead. Moorhead's a symptom.

This idea is hilarious to me...

SCENE: Weekly athletics meeting, Monday morning.
AD: Alright, I think that’s the rest of our business for this week. Bob, can we get a message board laugh for his week?
Bob: Sure thing boss... so this week the message boards were a flutter about the toilet paper in the club level seats. BigDawg71 writes:
“I can’t believe the 💩 we give as toilet paper to us ELITE club level ticket holders!?!?!!!! I had better toilet paper back in ‘Nam and I lived in a tent.
If the AD doesn’t get off his [redacted] I’m going to pull my donations next year. And don’t get me wrong I am a YEWG donor. 3 figures in my checks every year. I demand better............”
