...did it look like we were in position to break up almost every big passing play LSU made. I feel like our guys were there, but LSU won a few more than their share of those one on one battles in the air or on the dead run. I really liked the way our guys covered...not so much the way they finished...but I think all of us were worried about the corners and safeties and they showed up. I think that's really encouraging, and it speaks to coaching on the D-side.

Yes I agree. We had someone close. Hardly any big bust where no one was in the picture frame. It was an improvement for sure. Also our kicker kicked the ball out of the end zone on kickoffs and through the goalpost on field goals. Our receivers caught balls I've seen us drop for 30 years. Our punt returner never seemed in danger of fumbling the punt. All **** other teams have been doing for years lol.It seemed like our coaching is solid. More solid than ever maybe ( wool is thick).

Front 7 played awesome. When they can put pressure on a QB it'll make your DBs play better. I was impressed with Furge and Craft but CB still remains our biggest question mark I think.

No....it's not just you.

I kept waiting for the secondary to suck but it never happened.

The defense played great. Don't forget that LSU scored 17 points off of turnovers so that's not all on the defense.

It IS just me.

No, and some of the LSU WRs made some great plays BUT most were contested AND there were a big number of just plain drops BECAUSE the secondary was passing some serious licks to those who did manage to catch a pass.

The DBs should get some credit on most of the sacks. Brennan couldn't find an open receiver and held onto the ball too long. A bit ironic that the interception he threw was on the one play where our guys completely blew the coverage.

I was just going to say that, I don't remember any major busts by our secondary other than the first interception where Furdge was way out of position but got lucky that Brennan's arm got hit on the throw.

There was one Coonass TD where our DB was trying to cover two receivers. Brennan was running for his life & heaved up a dead duck.

Our defensive performance was more surprising than our offensive performance, at least to me. Let's be realistic though, Brennan was about a second slow on most of his throws.

We definitely still have some depth/inexperience issues in the secondary and will give up some big plays this year. People are criticizing Brennan today, and while he does deserve blame, it’s tough to hang in the pocket on those long developing pass plays when you’re getting sacked seven times.

But it is very encouraging to see what our defense did yesterday. We played with great effort, which is a Leach trademark on defense, and we tackled really well. Even though we got beat deep some, Arnett always had a guy in position to make a play. Those balls will start getting batted/picked when we get more talent and experience in the secondary.

It was everything I hoped to see from the defense. Given some of our limitations, you can’t ask for much more.

Would have loved to see Jeff Simmons, Montez Sweat, Jonathan Abram, Cam Dantzler, and Willie Gay in this defense.

I think we saw the reason Brennan has been on the bench. I just isn't good. Unless the cupboard is bare, I doubt he remains the starter for long.

We went for two INT’s that ended up as big LSU plays. Honestly, LSU was fortunate to even be in the game

Even when they did get behind our DB's our DB's closed the gap to make a play on the ball.

This is precisely what I was talking about. Those contested balls both went LSU's way, but both were 50/50 balls and we were in position. Make those two plays and it could've taken all of the angst out of the game.
