LOL @ the idea that a million dollars is nothing. We'd all take the million dollars.
Would you walk with a million of being patient would earn you 10????

I would but a million is not what it used to be, especially in the NBA. Stay another year in college, improve your draft stock and end up signing for about 4-5 times that amount.
Would you walk with a million of being patient would earn you 10????
That's true but a lot of these guys signed for about that much and never made it for more that 2-3 years. Sadly, they're out of the league and pretty much wasted their money. There's just no promise that you get higher. If you're a 1st round pick--that's a guaranteed deal. Coming back has the risk of injury.

Yes, that's true, but like I said, a million is not what it used to be. The IRS is going to get their share and family members start hitting you up for money. Unfortunately, in this country we're taught how to make money but not how to manage it wisely. You act like staying in school guarantees you'd make more. You could get hurt. You could be in a better draft class. Lots of factors.
Yes, the key is being smart about it. It's just sad that a lot of guys have money briefly then waste it.Yeah, but wasting your money doesn't mean a million dollars is bad. Getting that 1st million changes your life if you're smart about it
Based on past history I would expect to lose 6 from this years team. Travis (obviously), PJ, Keldon, Herro, Hagens and Richards. Not saying Nick is a first rounder but as we know kids will leave for a second round contract.

I think the only place Richards gets drafted this year is overseas, at this point. If he somehow were to become a 10 point, 10 rebound guy he'd definitely be gone this season but I don't see it.If the pros are as truthful with Richards as they were with PJ, he will stay. Nothing wrong with improving your skills another year even though I think PJ should too. I'm not sure Richards gets a second round pick but I've been wrong before especially if he explodes from here on out.
Sick of this “nba drafts on potential” garbage. No offense op. There’s value in returning, proving your potential and raising your draft stock. The value is millions and millions
I play baseball with a couple of guys that were in the majors very briefly and sat the bench. However, they all said that the minute you sign a big contract it's like winning the lottery; everyone comes out of the woodwork for money and family is the worst. And unfortunately nobody listens to the wise advice that you are giving. Its a "I want it now society."
You act like staying in school guarantees you'd make more. You could get hurt. You could be in a better draft class. Lots of factors.
A million bucks speaks loudly to me also and I haven't been 19 for a few decades.....dumb statement unless you come from money.......Unfortunately, all you have to do is wave a million dollars at a 19 year old kid and that's all it takes to sway him away.
It will far more times than not. And it’s not”staying in school” it’s increasing your stock by proving more. These guys have 10 million dollar insurance policies to hedge against injury. And to the bird in hand garbage, that’s not how people become wealthy. Hagans for instance if he goes and is a late first rounder that would be an awful decision bc he has lottery potential as a sophomore. Potential cuts many different ways.
Really, what's "dumb" about it? I can assure you that I neither come from money nor am I "dumb". Only an idiot that can't argue intelligently uses such insults, especially on the net.A million bucks speaks loudly to me also and I haven't been 19 for a few decades.....dumb statement unless you come from money.......
If Booker had the minutes at UK that he would have had at any other school he would have been a lot higher than a number 75 player in college. Also he is quite a bit bigger than Tyler. Time will tell whether Tyler will leave but, I wouldn't count on him being here next season. We as fans can only hope that he returns.Wrong . No way anyone can say that at this point . To do so would be silly. If the season ended today herro would be drafted between 25-40 . SO IMO he would be back but if he continues to improve he could work his way into a top 20 pick which then he should and would leave. Right now the 3 guys who would leave are Hagans ( and he has said he came to Uk as it was the one school he knew could get him to the NBA in 1 year ) , PJ ( top 25 pick ) and KJ ( top 10 pick ) . Travis as well would be drafted.
Year in and year out people pay way too much attention to what the kid does on the floor instead of what the kid shows he COULD do eventually in the NBA. The NBA drafts on potential . That is why Booker was a lotto pick when he wasn't even a top 75 player his 1 year in college.
And you would know their financial situation.......I am calling BS..........hell, you probably don't know the balance of your own check book.........yet you are spouting about these players like you know...That's true but a lot of these guys signed for about that much and never made it for more that 2-3 years. Sadly, they're out of the league and pretty much wasted their money.
Do you? Tell me what's the tax rate on a million dollars and how much you'll get after Uncle Sam gets his share. As for someone's financial situation, they probably come from low to middle income families. And you would know their financial situation.......I am calling BS..........hell, you probably don't know the balance of your own check book.........yet you are spouting about these players like you know...
He is 1 inch taller . Booker is 6'6ish maybe 6'7 and herro is 6'5 I believe he was measured at combine . I do agree he would of been top 50 if he had played more but the point stands. NBA drafts on potential. Herro is a better prospect though overall due to defense , driving ability ect. But also the this class of freshmen is far superior to the class that year.If Booker had the minutes at UK that he would have had at any other school he would have been a lot higher than a number 75 player in college. Also he is quite a bit bigger than Tyler. Time will tell whether Tyler will leave but, I wouldn't count on him being here next season. We as fans can only hope that he returns.
A million dollars is a bunch of money.......that is what is dumb about your statement. So.....you would have turned down a million dollar job opportunity when you was 19......No, hell no you would not.....if you had any sense.......It isn't like they will never have the opportunity to work for a living. So I stand my original assertion that is a dumb statement.........Really, what's "dumb" about it? I can assure you that I neither come from money nor am I "dumb". Only an idiot that can't argue intelligently uses such insults, especially on the net.
I can tell you exactly what my financial situation is.......I can figure the tax rate for you but there are lot of factors that would change the rate.....a little stero-typical with the, "they probably come from low to middle income families"............seriously now.... do you have a GD crystal ball that you make these assertions about people you don't know from squat....Do you? Tell me what's the tax rate on a million dollars and how much you'll get after Uncle Sam gets his share. As for someone's financial situation, they probably come from low to middle income families.
And I stand by mine that you're understand nothing about economics. Just for your limited mental capacity, the tax rate on a million is around 35%. Yeah, that's around $350K right off the top. How many players in the the league signed for that amount and are not only out of the league but are broke? Ever think of that? And BTW, a million when I was 19 is worth about $4.5 in today's dollars which is way more.A million dollars is a bunch of money.......that is what is dumb about your statement. Please enlighten me as to just how much I'll be paying this year.I can tell you exactly what my financial situation is.......I can figure the tax rate for you but there are lot of factors that would change the rate.....
Are you really that stupid................I took care of my own books while in business.....I also take care of my own tax preparation..........your comprehension is really bad.......I said that I could tell you what a tax rate would be if I knew the exact situation......I don't have a crystal ball like you must have....Please enlighten me as to just how much I'll be paying this year.
you don't know what I or anyone else would pay for that amount.....no I don't worry or think about how many people leave school for the NBA and go broke......it has no bearing on my life......I could care less.......you don't know any more than I do if those people are "broke".........your short shortsightedness makes you want to believe they are going to be losers if they don't satisfy your basketball desires and stay at UK for four years.....by the way I completely understand economics....And I stand by mine that you're understand nothing about economics. Daniel Orton says helloIf anyone was ever drafted on "potential" it was SKAL. Only at UK can a player average 6-7ppg and get drafted in the first round.
The sooner you leave and start your NBA career, the sooner you can get a max co tractSick of this “nba drafts on potential” garbage. No offense op. There’s value in returning, proving your potential and raising your draft stock. The value is millions and millions
It would be more than a million in the first place! Picks 20 to 30 goes anywhere from a million to 1.5 million and you times that by 3 you’re looking at 3 to 4.5 million! First round picks get a 3 year contract!
