She's obviously not nearly as good as we all thought she would be coming from UConn. Geno cast her out for a reason. It will take some time for Vic to work her into the system.

I think E-Hunter has talent. Vic’s game is different than Geno’s, Geno has 5 or 6 as good as Oregon’s Romanian. And make no mistake, she was far and away the best player on the court tonight.

Espinoza-Hunter only knows one speed and only runs that speed on offense. She will come along by mid-season and be our 6th or 7th best player.

I’ve never understood why some of our fans seemed to think this freshman that barely played last year would immediately step in and be the next Vivians. AEH is very talented but also very inexperienced. She was running the scout team the last few weeks before the season started because they had to be prepared in case she wasn’t going to be eligible, and I kind of get the sense that her getting cleared took us a little by surprise.

She’s not ready yet, doesn’t mean she won’t eventually be a very good player.

She has a very high ceiling, but she's basically a freshman. Same with Taylor.

Is McCowan hurt? How the hell can you be that damn physically imposing and yet just disappear? I've heard of stealth fighters, but never knew we had stealth aircraft carriers.

Do fans of other schools trash players like our fans? It makes zero sense, I swear we have the dumbest fans.

The ducks coach had a good game plan. If TM gets the ball, immediately collapse and do not give her room to operate and make others on the team beat you. When she does get it, the defender bodies up on her to keep her from getting comfortable. I saw what could have been a lot of lower body fouls that were not called and some times it is that way, unfortunately. Vic will need to be more creative with Bibby to get her open more and I think he sees that.

The lack of a second shooter really hurt us last night. They could chase Bibby and still collapse on McCowan with everyone else. We have no other outside threats. And when Danberry fouled out, we lost our best scoring guard.

Agreed. Their strategy was apparently to not let T beat them inside or Bibby outside and our other players were not able to capitalize on this.

T is only effective at point blank range. Never has been able to score much more than a few feet from the basket. That is just who she is. Oregon decided that they were not going to let her beat them and did so by putting a forearm in her back 6 feet from the basket. She might have gotten the refs to put a stop to that if she fought it but for whatever reason she just stood there and took it instead of banging with the defender. She is a great player and proud to have her in maroon and white but had a bad day yesterday. Maybe we will see them again away from their gym.

You’re right of course. But you can’t tell some people a players not going to be an immediate all American. I really thought all slong the best thing in the long run would be for her to not be eligible this year. We’re gonna mostly waste a year of eligibility.

The Ducks making 29 out of 30 free throws was huge.
That was nuts.

The FT shooting was incredible. It was an automatic 2 points when they were fouled. Shooting 85% as a team on the season is amazing.

Granted that was exceptional but they are the best free throw shooting team in the country. Have to be able to defend them without committing so many fouls.

Problem with T is that if someone pushes her if she pushes back she get whistled for a foul. That girl was driving into her back and T just turned to the basket and got that unsportsmanlike foul. She gets officiated unfairly because of her height.

Jesus some of you are short sided. Look at the leap Bibby took from year one to year two under Vick.

Exactly, I never expected AEH to come in here and be great from the start. She's basically a freshman like Taylor. Being a five-star recruit only means that you are elite compared to your high school peers. It does not mean that you can come in the first year and compete with your college peers. That's why UConn has five stars are riding their bench with their freshmen. They're not ready.

Maybe but you have two choices....

Problem with T is that if someone pushes her if she pushes back she get whistled for a foul. That girl was driving into her back and T just turned to the basket and got that unsportsmanlike foul. She gets officiated unfairly because of her height.

1) You can just stand there and take it & are guaranteed to be ineffective for the entire game or

2) You can battle back and at least give yourself a chance to get the refs attention and get some calls. If you foul out you foul out. You don't have to turnaround and shove back but just push back in the post with your feet and make the defenders actions more obvious.

T is big but she has never been a real physical player on the post. She has been able to dominate mostly by just sheer size. When a team has the physicality to do what oregon was doing she has got to learn to give it back to them or she will continue to disappear in similar situations. She certainly has to learn this to have any hope at competing at the next level.
