He has been gone since January or February. He never had any intention of playing here. I know that's too much for some people to accept but it's true.
No, it's too much for you to accept that you don't have a clue about what goes on inside of a teenagers mind in regards to making personal decisions.

This is awful. Kanter wanted to play and would have. Diallo chose not to and used us. Kemp was kicked off.

He's not a Kentucky player. I also don't care one iota about this guy's financial issues as I'm not in his household or a Diallo fan. I'm a Kentucky fan. I don't pretend to care about guys getting rich like some sheep.

Sad terrible take! Ur perspective is fine but it isn't the one that is relevant. When u can go beyond the short-sightedness of this opinion, it becomes obvious the kid should do what is best for him---not ur opinion of what's best for u or ur satisfaction. If he was ur kid, I guarantee ur opinion is different!

What a touchy feely thread by certain posters.Let's all hug Diallo and send him on his way. It's selfish of us to expect him to ever play a game for UK.We shouldn't want him back to increase our title hopes.

Don't be a short-sighted monkey dick! Players want to come when they know they can trust the coach to do what's best for them.

Yes because actually wanting a player to play before leaving makes me the devil.[eyeroll]

It's fine that you want that, it's not fine that you don't want the player to do what's best for his future whether that's stay or go.

You guys don't seem to get that recruiting success is occurring because we have a coach that puts his players first but has his team as a possible national title contender every year. Hes havong more success than yoyr "doing it right" coaches are. His teams have played for the national title twice in 8 seasons, been in the semi-final twice, ELITE 8 twice. Only 1 bad season!

Get over yourself! I want to see him play here also but I believe in what Cal is doing & it's setting us up well for the future to continue the same. And we will win another championship, by sheer default when you're flirting with it every year.

One thing I want to say is just because someone doesn't like this particular situation doesn't mean they hate Cal or don't support him.I love Cal and this is the only time I have disagreed with him.He is a top notch recruiter and I really don't see the need for him to take a none and done guy. U r certainly entitled to ur opinion. However, I believe ur opinion to be selfish and short-sighted. This situation should be viewed thru the lens of HD. Not u. Some uk fan! Go on with this garbage and support the kid! Bet money u never said anything similar about Kanter or Kemp! How can u claim he is not a part of the U.K. Family? He certainly is more than u or anyone else on this board--- me included.
you are incorrect about Kanter; we all consider him a Wildcat because it was not HIS choice to not play
Kemp was another matter; I don't consider him a Wildcat
And I will not consider Diallo a Wildcat unless he returns and plays next season. I support his decision, not going to get my panties in a wad over it, and will wish him well. I even appreciate his practice helping improve the play of Fox and Monk. But I will never think of HD as one of ours if he stays in the draft.

Haha. Okay, buddy. Is that what we do now? We pretend they're our kids? Do you pretend NBA players and NFL players are your kids? How about actors? Politicians?

I don't give a crap about this guy's financial issues nor is he a Wildcat as he never played for us and used us. I also don't care about him getting rich. I'm not Cal nor his parents. He's no different than any player who didn't play here. You acting like you're righteous because you parrot Cal's talking points is pretty funny.

Good to know that like two months of wearing a UK sweatsuit and choosing not to help the team somehow makes you forever a Wildcat.

No matter what Diallo decides he is a wildcat in my mind. Cal is sure treating him like a wildcat. He is doing everything he can to get information from the NBA to help him make an informative decision. That is good enough for me.

It's not 50/50. He is either 100% gone or 100% not.

Schrodinger ain't got nothin' on this cat.
Atleast you have all your bases covered. I would go a little further and say there is a 100% chance he plays basketball next year as well

Everyone has a right to their feelings but to me a guy who chose to never play for UK(if that happens)is not a Wildcat.

He's not a player. He never played a second for us. How is this difficult for you to grasp? You want to contribute something and then go pro? Cool. Best of luck.

You want to come here for less than three months, wear a sweatsuit, choose not to play and lie that you wanna focus on school and next season and then go pro? Get lost.

I don't think Cal knew. Imo, Cal assumed he would be here next year. Just a very unusual situation that has taken place. Cal can't help if Diallo changed his mind- if in fact he goes pro. But if the young is getting a spot in the first round, he should go for it.

Good god can we stop with the if gen never suited up for uk he's never gonna be considered a wildcat crap for atleast 1 day please? What we got here is a failure to communicate. He was on that uk bench this yr yes he didn't play but rest assured if Jen stays in the draft and goes on to be an all star caliber player nobody here will deny him wildcat status. When lantern is playing well in the NBA nobody says he ain't no uk player. Yes, I know the situations are entirely different but we are talking about a guy who was ranked the number 1 sg oozing with talent. If gen does stay in the draft he will stilll be an ambassador for all things uk and if it helps Ian with recruiting in the future I don't think too many will complain

You have no idea about his family situation- they may really need the financial help. If he gets feedback he is a first round pick, you can't blame the kid. He probably had no idea his stock would blow up like it has.

I respect what Cal is doing; and am quite okay with it.
I just can't see HD as a Wildcat

respect your opinion, and appreciate the response

If he goes pro this summer, I can't wait until his birthday when Mrs. Coach Cal bakes him birthday brownies.

That will be proof that he's a Wildcat.
