I'm starting to get tired of His Highness...like I did with Pitino and Smith. Hopefully His Highness takes this bunch to a title but we will have to wait and see.

we can start with Rupp Arena reducing the number of seats by about 3K and still can't sell it out.
You know last season they didn't let GD fans in right? How the hell can you sell out the Arena when they let in 20% capacity. You have lost any credibility you had Cletus

Through '19-'20 UK was still second behind Syracuse for attendance. Bet they are still in that spot at end of this year.

The world has changed man....this isn't 1995 anymore.

TV's are 100" in 4K crystal, there is still this whole pandemic thing and ticket prices are freaking ridiculous. Who wants to pay $50 a pop to sit at the top of Rupp to watch a game? UK could get away with that 30 years ago, not so much anymore.

You are completely out of touch.

I'd be willing to bet if UK had a team of John Wall, Demarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe, Patrick Patterson and Deandre Liggins, we wouldn't be making red herring excuses about people buying $1500 TVs but can't afford UK tickets. That team at least inspired hope they could hang with the best teams in the nation from the start.

I guess last nights win made you pretty cocky, but not much smarter

here is an excerpt from an article in November, 2019, well before Covid

If you don’t think John Calipari has a second or two during home games to glance up and see what’s going on in the stands, think again.

Ramsey says season ticket sales aren’t down at UK, and that almost all of the 20,500 seats inside Rupp Arena are accounted for.

“We have been within a couple hundred tickets of a sellout for every game,” Ramsey said.

What Cal can’t do, (and don’t start, BBN because no coach can), is drive people to the arena for games, and force them inside. So he did the next best thing.

“We need our 6th man,” he said in a recorded message sent to season ticket holders on Friday morning from his office. “Fans become big in this” (building process), he continued.

But fans have become, maybe a bit spoiled and the program could be a victim of its own success and expectation level.

“We are just incredibly blessed to have a program that has some really high-level games come February and March,” said Ramsey while adding, “but the reason those games are high-level is because of these games in November when we build a team.”

-----------------

so the tickets are already sold, but watching the team is so dis-interesting to the fans, they just choose to eat the cost and stay away.

I don't think most fans would say we are incredibly blessed to be subjected to cupcake basketball in November and December, where we have to celebrate beating up a bad team. Certainly the ticket holders are saying that.

He’s most fans guy. Just because like 40 people on here are mad doesn’t mean the whole state is.
just because there are 40 people on here who think everything is great doesn't mean the whole state is either.

The bigger issue is the general disinterest, there was a time when this board (or the variation of it) had thousands of people posting after a game. There is no ticket cost or 100 mile drive that shows fan interest is down in the online community

If you can' t admit that Cal's support has declined in the last few years then you have serious blue blinders on.

Again, UK was 2nd in attendance a position they've generally held for as long as I can remember, sometimes taking the top spot.

If you don't think ticket cost, start time and entertainment options factor into this I don't know what else to tell ya.

Attendance is down in almost every sport both collegiate and professional.

again, Ramsey is saying the tickets are sold, people aren't showing up. Spin it how you want, the net result is the experience isn't worth their time.

Do you know what a scalper is?
oh boy, ok, you win

there are scalpers out there buying thousands of UK basketball tickets for every crap game , sitting on them rather than selling them because its a good business model , and Cal and the UK administration are oblivious to that while they are asking fans to come to the games.

Good point. I wasn't necessarily referring to the crap games though.

All I can say is my lack of going has nothing to do with lack of interest.

Last year is symbolic of every year! Attendance is down everywhere, but Rupp will be sold out this season again. Tickets will be gettable, especially early in the year. Could it have anything to do w caliber of other team?

Cal’s inclination to only schedule home cupcakes is absolutely a large reason for dropping attendance.

Do still like him as our coach or has the game passed him by? I am not reflecting an opinion either way.
Cal is one of the best college basketball coaches in the country, but he isn't a sorcerer. Cal still recruits well, but has had some trouble getting dominant bigs the last several years. Not because he forgot how to recruit them, but because so many other coaching staffs have been cheating. The SEC has a lot of money and has become a very tough basketball conference. Now that a few coaches have been caught and fired for cheating (Miller, Pitino) and now that players can get paid for endorsements, I expect Cal's recruiting to improve and that looks like it is already happening. Cal has a lifetime contract with UK, so the only way he leaves would be if he makes that decision himself. For those who want Cal out, be careful what you wish for. It's a shortsighted wish.

How many said bringing back Antigua would fix everything? Lots of you did. Now Antigua has been back for two games. One competitive loss to Duke and some people come unglued. Chill pill, guys.

This team is much better than people think and is going to do some major damage in March. Next year we're insanely loaded. Lotta people gonna be eating crow. He's still my guy because he's been tear since last year. Now if we're asking this two years from now then it's prob time, but it won't come to that. I'll eat crow if I'm wrong.

It'll be the happiest day in my UK fandom in a long time when Cal leaves.
At this point, how can anybody think Cal is our guy. Kentucky fandom is at its lowest point ever, fans are not going to games like they used to, Cal’s arrogance is at an all time high with no results. Remember his arrogant comment at the end of last year (after worst season ever), “just wait..,.blah, blah, blah. He is not the Cal we hired. He is stubborn, arrogant while being the highest paid college basketball coach ever. As a fan for 30 years, I don’t know why I even watch anymore for this embarrassment. Thanks Mitch for the worst contract in the history of any sports.

Let's just say Cal is the worst in game Coach UK has had since prior to Rupp and I do not know crap about those guys.

I’m a troubled soul over last night. Just not sure what to prepare for this season. Trying to convince myself just to DVR the important games and watch if we win and save myself frustration if we don’t.

I think he’s got one last run in him. But he needs to hurry. I look at guys like Cal and those guys just always come out on top by hook or by crook.

Not gonna win every game brotha, might want to take up another sport.
Well Cal should try to at least win against the CBB Brand teams. Basically for the last 5 or 6 years he has lost several more of these games than he has won. Is this what ww expect as a UK fan?
