No way. We were destined to be a 5 seed. That means we would have had to beat a 1 To get to an EE. Wasn’t happening.
For whatever Cal has done, he now is responsible for the lowest on the court low in the history of Kentucky Basketball
Even during almost death penalty probation year we won 13 games - 40% of our schedule
Bringing in a 9-16 team with players that went on to professional teams afterwards? That is unforgivable.
Should be he fired? I don't know. Does he think he has the right to stand up and talk about using the program for generational change after that - I fully support buying a 1 way ticket to the retirement community of his choice the first time he does
He better singularly talk about 1 thing and that's getting back to a #1 seed level team. I have no patience for a coach who doesn't talk about anything but that after last year and allowing Kansas to be in line to pass us in all time wins.

The start of him not being UK's "guy" is when he is no longer the fan's "guy"

between 9-16, kneeling and the general apathy toward the OAD approach that isn't working, regardless of his job security, the folks out and about are done with him. Yes he still has supporters but the number of people that have tuned out Kentucky basketball directly tied to Cal is alarming and I'm sure the administration is aware of it. I"m sure Cal is aware of it. He becomes acutely aware of it when he has to do a PSA begging fans to come to the games.
I'm not blind enough to realize those opinions could change with another championship run but until such time, he isn't going to win any popularity contests

I need citation saying a number of people have tuned out UK basketball. If they did, they weren't fans and good riddance, don't come back when the winning starts

So. Why is it IU can't win anything in decades. They have hired and fired several coaches. None have been near the level of Cal. I guess you prefer UK be another IU.
we can start with Rupp Arena reducing the number of seats by about 3K and still can't sell it out.
