Who else is out there? I will take Cal over most anyone out there coaching today. At least anyone who would be willing to come to a high stress environment like Kentucky. Some other poster said no way were winning this game. Coach K will have to purposely loose to not get to the final 4 this year. Although K has had his share of clunkers in the past. As always Go Cats!

Do still like him as our coach or has the game passed him by? I am not reflecting an opinion either way.
Nothing but a woke snake oil salesman. We are becoming more like Indiana Year by year
Calipari is absolutely the best available option to head Kentucky basketball right now. I get that there is always venting after a loss, and the "troll" quotient in this thread - people who only wish Kentucky basketball harm -- is very high.

But as recently as the 2020 season Kentucky was outright SEC champs and poised to have a great tournament before it was canceled. A year before that, the program was an OT from a Final Four. Kentucky had one bad year, greatly exacerbated by COVID, and Cal has done an excellent job rebuilding from that - new staff, new roster of players and a recruiting class coming in that might be the greatest in college basketball history before it is finished.

Trust me, knowledgeable rival fan bases laugh at threads like this. I know because I work with guys from all over the country who follow different teams that have had a small fraction of Kentucky's success - even since 2015 -- and they marvel at the stupidity of not celebrating Cal. That's why so many fakes come here and add their voices to making Kentucky fans sound even dumber than some are.
2020 was a anomaly.

There it is. The dumbest thing I’ll read all day.

IU has made the S16 twice since 2013. And hasn’t been back to the S16 since. We just made the E8 in 2019.

Im not happy happy with Cal right now but comparing us to IU is a just dumb.

Get your head out of Cal's arss, he has a losing record against the top 20 the last five years, UNC,Duke and Kansas have owned us recently.
Which is a fair criticism. Get your head out of your own *** comparing us to INDIANA.

LOL. Yeah, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020 were all anomalies -- all years Kentucky went to the Elite Eight or beyond or, in the case of 2020, won the conference by three games and were in good shape to go at least that far before the tournament was canceled.

I wonder sometimes if people themselves believe the dumbest of the idiotic nonsense they post on this board. I guess I shouldn't underestimate human stupidity.

Yea we have missed tournament twice under Cal, got beat in NCAAT by Indiana and Kansas State and had the worst season since the early days of UK.
Which still isn’t even close to IU. But keep believing that.

Only hope for folks that are tired of Cal is that he retires. Mitch won't do anything I don't believe because the buyout is so large unless some boosters reach deep into their wallets. Brilliant idea that "lifetime" contract with such an astronomical buyout.

The second thing is, if you're going to make a coaching change then you'd better be very very confident you can get the new coach you want. What would be brutal for a program like UK would be to have to settle for Option G, because you're top choices turned you down.

I don't know who else I'd want at present time. Maybe Jay Wright?

When it becomes clear there are better options, I'd be glad to move on.

April 2009- March 2020: Absolutely

Now: Ask me again around February 10.

I see potential to be great in this squad. But, i need to see 15 or so more games. If we start losing to cupcakes and low tier SEC teams regularly like we did last year, I’ll join the dark side and call for Cal’s head.

I just read 5 pages...what was the question again?

The game was on last night, but it no longer is the priority of the day. No more pre and post game because its a process and we're going to keep having that thrown at us because our opponents seem to always be able to keep us at bay.

I miss other early season former UK traditions but someone is insistent on making season ticket owners happy by playing lower tiered teams and keeping Rupp from being the place to be on gameday.

P&S, Cal has peaked.

I've been in a weird place with Cal the last year or so.

On one hand, I like him and don't think we'd be able to get anyone better at this point. I don't think he should be fired or pushed out. He garnered a lot of goodwill from me by upgrading his assistants in the off-season and focusing on having more pure shooters.

On the other hand, if he left after this season to go to the NBA I don't think I would be upset. It might just be time for some new blood and a fresh set of eyes. If he had left 3 or 4 years ago, I would have been very upset, so something has changed for me since then.

This is a long way of saying "I'm not sure anymore."

From 1931 to 2007, General Motors was the largest automaker in the world with a 50% market share in the United States. In 2020, Volkswagen is the largest with Toyota having the most sales. General Motors is 5th. People like you that don’t see a similar trend with Calipari and Kentucky are the dumb ones.

Cal is my guy, but when our next head coach comes along he will be my guy until he leaves. It’s all about Winning. I don’t care what he looks like or says, can he win is all I’m looking for in a coach. Win and win a lot!

Pitino could take this team the FF and maybe win it all.. I don't think Cal can win games with less talented teams.. It's in his nature to want talent, he knows he has to have it or else.. Just look at his time here if he has the best talent he wins a lot of games.. Maybe not the FF but some games.. He has a tendency to tighten up when the games get tight or the other team gets ahead..
He simply can not coach in this modern style games.. Oh he think's he can and still run's the same old tied crap each game after saying he will speed up the game.. I will believe it when I see it for a full season..
We might win 20 games this year with some luck.. But I have my doubts about any think better..
Hope I am wrong, I have been a UK fan for seems like a hundred years..
This suck's to see UK in the shape.. May leave it just like he found it, in a terrible mess..

Cal isn't the same hungry guy he was pre-UK and his first few years here. He also caught lightning in a bottle from a timing standpoint with the emergence of 1AD and coming to UK. Now he's a HOF coach with a lifetime contract who has grown incredibly stubborn. He says some of the right things yet does nothing different. Kudos to him for finally replacing the assistant coaches. Yet on so many other things from recruiting to rotations, the offense and the defense he seems to be in denial. I have no doubt he works hard and wants to win but he seems too stuck on himself and in the past to rise to the top again without making some real changes. There's also his arrogance and condescension towards fans and anyone that doesn't agree with everything he does. I could live with that if he was still winning like his early years here.

Yes, there's the question about who would replace him. That's a tough one. At some point, however, the cost/benefit curve bends in favor of change and if change isn't made you're just prolonging the inevitable. The reality though is that he's likely going to be here as long as he wants to be here.

This is simple. Cal is the choice of the university of Kentucky basketball team. He’s supported by his management. Support the Cats, support Cal. Don’t support Cal, you don’t support the product the University puts on the floor. That’s the cats.

No Chris Mack is much better! Imagine the drama we could get. Cal is b oring with his number 1 classes and he let a great Duke team beat him. Nah let's go for Powder....

no he isn’t. he is happy and content, the fire is gone. he sees this program as an nba development league. its not about winning games and championships here anymore. most troubling is my fellow cats fans willing acceptance of losing and mediocrity. the standard is the standard and the clock is ticking for a lot of us
