He has ACTUALLY become this HORRIBLE at coaching.

Besides, he hasn't got time for this stuff, he's got to get back home to his dogs. Whom, I might say, are as FAT as he is!!!!
It’s his own hubris that’s the downfall, Chin Coleman was naive enough to try to tell him right from wrong last year and he got shouted down into his puppy dog recruiter roll that doesn’t dare make a peep in game.

Cal has to put his ego aside and let his assistants actually assist him on his blind spots, rather than denying reality that he has blind spots.

Because denying reality has us 10–5, about 3-5 against teams worth a ****. Does Cal think he can just double down on denying reality constantly or is the man ever going to have a moment of humility and accept help from his coaches ?

Cal has a very military dad style of coaching, my dad was his way or the highway even if his way wasn’t the right way, Cal has to admit fault and drive us back onto the road or he’s gonna drive this program off a canyon.

Jesus Christ man, accepting help doesn’t make you weak, it makes you a leader.

It’s definitely something worth considering. Is Cal throwing games and seasons to try to force UK to fire him and give him some sort of buyout? It’s crossed my mind more than once.

But I always come back to- why would the players go along with it? They’d be sacrificing their professional aspirations and making their nba stock plummet in order to go along with this. That and, after all these failures of seasons those slices of the pie get smaller and smaller with each new player added to this hypothetical dining table (if Cal is offering them a slice of the buyout to go along with it).

Cal losing purposefully only to make a late season run so Mitch Mom Jeans Barnhart signs him to a post lifetime contract with a 200 billion buy out?
You know, I haven’t thought about that angle . But it is absolutely possible he trying to avoid being upset by another 15 seed ! If he gets a 9 or 10 seed and loses to an 8 or 7 seed ….well that’s no big deal ! And if he was to upset them , well then he‘s the toast of the town ! That damn Cal is GENIUS! Genius I tell ya !

That’s ridiculous!!
I did think Cal use to do stuff on purpose to get the team ready but now I just see it as him being stubborn and selfish.

That's the thing, I think this team could be really good if they played to their potential
I very much wish that was the case but I just don't see it. There have been a couple of games in which they looked pretty good, however there have been more games that they looked bad. We haven't beaten a good team, we have allowed a couple of bad teams to hang around till late in the game

We have some individual talent, Oscar has been a rock for us, Wallace has emerged as nice player and Wheeler has been decent in his role. Toppin has shown flashes but struggles against strong and physical competition.

Overall the team is soft both physically and mentally and we lack the overall skill to be a finesse team. If you mix in the usual dose of Cal's antics both on and off the court what you have is what we've got. The team doesn't know who it is on Jan 9,a team trying to find it's potential and a team that is intimidated by the name on the front of their jersey.

I honestly don't know what to make of it at this point. Never really seen something quite like this in sports. It also feels like this is some sort of bad breakup one party is just trying to burn it down and make it worse. As I try and explain it to people, I'm kind of at a loss for words. I've gotten questions like these:

"Why doesn't he just work on the offense?"
"He can't all the sudden have just gotten bad at his job, can he?"
"Does he want to get fired?"
"How come he doesn't play the other top recruits (Ugonna and Thiero)?"

And I keep answering sheepishly "I'm not really sure.."

So you are in the same boat as Cal? It is a pretty big boat, there are several of us in there

I think something is off kilter, was the competition that weak in August?

Maybe ,but it is hard to believe it was that weak, If you listen to Oscar several on the team aren't willing to do what it takes to win ,he ask Cal to play a walk on if he had to
just to find comeone willing to fight. Uh ,Thiero is still over there isn't he?
