The Drive, Josh Graham is the show that Matt Jones and KSR had it out with regarding Wake Forest coach. I wouldn't put much stock into this. WF coach supported Sarr transfer ultimately. Pearl was just defending his guy (Forbes)...this is several months old- am I missing something here?

If auburn has the power to make demands of sitting Gatewood out against them and also whether Sarr gets a waiver in basketball. leave the SEC , The ACC and Big 10 now have contracts similar to the SEC's.... its not worth being treated this badly and knowing schools like Auburn have so much say.

What money do we take from them in Football? We might get a little to trickle down from the FBS championship if an SEC team wins. We have to share our bowl game winnings too though. So it would be close to a wash.
Youare wrong. UK makes a lot of money

This article is about football vs basketball budgets and revenue. No one is arguing that football has more revenue and larger budget. The question is how much comes from the SEC conference share agreement. The article didn't mention that.

Also, football season is over before basketball conference play starts. Opting out of the latter if necessary shouldn't have much impact if football is already completed for the season.

Hello again Cat Nation! This is great fodder for the premier rivalry in college hoops but my sources tell me Tom Crean is the corch in question here.

WDE and GC!

Can we wait and see what Cal says about the Sarr situation. I haven't heard from Cal and UK that Sarr has been approved by the NCAA and if there is a problem within SEC(a coach) about his waiver. I have been waiting on word from Cal and UK on the whole Sarr waiver from the NCAA and what is next with the SEC. Just because we heard it was Pearl we don't know which coach. The coach could have just gave his views on Sarr and the transfer process. Has Cal said anything on the Sarr situation with SEC?

First, it is not confirmed that it is Pearl being the obstacle. It's a maybe. But, typical of the internet, let's just conclude it is......

Did anyone listen to the comments Pearl made? He never said he was against a transfer. Instead, he shared that many who transfer versus sticking it out don't do as well and thinks that a kid should stay.

No matter if it were Pearl, or another SEC coach (and there are several suspects including someone at Arkansas, Florida, and Tennessee), their opinion should have zero influence with the SEC. If the NCAA approved, the SEC should be ashamed of allowing any further delay to clear Sarr. Pearl said in that recording he didn't agree with transferiring for the outcome of the recruit but he never said it was illegal, or that a rule existed against it.
He should've turned it around in him and said "There have been lots of coaches leave for another who don't do as well. Should they stay also?"

Fine. Pearl has an opportunity to come out and say it WASN'T him, then. Let's see if he shows out.
He could come and say that but he doesn’t have to. The duty is on the accuser to prove what they’re accusing him of, not on him to prove he didn’t say it. At least that’s how it should be.

everyone loves to forget burden proof and submit to mob rule, until the mob turns on them...

That's true in a legal setting, civil or criminal. But this is the court of public opinion, and the smart thing to do, once a rumor reaches a certain point, is to publicly and forcefully deny it.

I honestly don't think it's that serious for UK. We actually have the power here. If SEC rules him ineligible for the year, we just don't play SEC games in an already weird season. We can stick to non conference bubbles. Most leagues would be happy to let us join their bubbles. Then, after the season ends, we don't have to share any money we get from the tournament with the league. The SEC already lost buttloads of cash after canceling last season. FB revenue is going to be way down since fans are limited. Are they really eager to piss of their cash cow in basketball? Imagine what the SEC tournament would look like without KY fans in attendance or watching on TV....
Your reasoning is unsound. The SEC is the most financially secure collegiate conference in the country. The SEC will make boatloads of money from its TV contracts. Losing football fans from the stands hurts. But TV is the main driver of SEC athletic revenue, and football is the biggest driver of revenue. Bigger than basketball. Football is still the SEC's "cash cow". And if we decline to share money with the SEC, we would be in violation of conference bylaws and would be punished. Every year, the SEC shares money with Kentucky. Do you wish to jeopardize this lucrative relationship? I do not. Kentucky will not engage in open rebellion against a conference Kentucky helped to found in the 1st place. You make it sound like Sarr is the 1st transfer to need clearance at Kentucky. In reality, there have been many. Kentucky didn't rebel when other transfers sat. I know times have changed since then, but not enough for Kentucky's AD to sanction a public rebellion. Besides, I still expect Sarr to be cleared.

No one other than UK fans are even mentioning it. So it hasn't reached that certain point.

It’s true in the legal setting because it’s the moral thing to do imo. If you disagree with that than I think we will find, with respect of course, that we don’t have much common ground on this subject.

i am not saying that every law is based off good morality. But I do believe many, if not most of them, are.

This by-law was introduced for football reasons. It will be obsolete in the very near future no matter who is opposed to it. We will win this. My question I have, what is Sarr's major now? Kentucky has an agenda. LSU recruited him hard too. There has to be an out. With so many votes coming up on eligibility issues, something has to give.

By the way, who cares what Bruce Pearl and Tom Crean say, they don't have a vote.
Just like Mark Stoops said other day, Coaches can say whatever they want but they have no vote.
