Go in the summer. Even better than ski season IMO - lived in Beaver Creek for a few years. Less expensive and great outdoor activities.
The GoPro Mountain Games are so much fun. Can't wait for those this summer.

Kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, and restaurants at a discount. Best time of the year. Mud season also not bad for some great restaurant deals.

I did some minimal research on this when I went to Germany the first time after noticing they had nothing with corn syrup over there, only zucker(sugar). I found that odd and found out the obesity rate is about half there what it is here. Don't remember the exact numbers and I'm too fat and lazy to look it up again. I also noticed every salad we ate over there, no matter where, seemed so fresh and taste great.
This is another thing, salads over here are covered with salted meats, croutons, cheese, and 400 calories worth of dressing...and people actually believe it is healthy. Or they will eat a frozen Healthy Choice entree with 1,000mg of sodium. That is why even fat people on diets can't lost weight.
This is sound advice. Mountain biking season is amazing. Love taking the gondola up at Beaver Creek then just going balls out the whole way down.

I am overweight but not obese by my standards. I am 215 and 6 ft tall.
I will say that for me, getting the fitbit opened my eyes a little. I had no idea I was as inactive as I was. Sitting in an office can kill your activity.

I have some compassion for those that have posted an alternate viewpoint ITT, but I agree with the cost aspect presented here. If you are obese, or if you smoke, then you should be responsible for 100% of the cost burden associated with your life choice.
As we contemplate Obamacare and the health insurance industry, we should take measures to ensure that no fit non-smoker pays one penny more than they would in a world without obese people or smokers. Those folks should pay a sufficient premium to cover all of their increased medical costs.
Why start a thread like this? Knowing idiots on here are going to make more of it, for fun. The sad thing is, we can't see these posters as God can see them. Would like to be a fly on some of your wall's to see just how much more embarrassing you are in private than some fat person in public. Some of you are pathetic. Can't believe some even posted in the Easter thread or liked anything related to Christ being spoken of in it. He died for all. My father's side is small and my mother's side was small. I'm 5'9 140. I feel I'm too skinny, and know I am. But who cares, my heart is all that matters. I know some overweight people try to take advantage of the battery operated carts in Wal-Mart and it gets me, but this is just a bash them thread. I agree that we shouldn't pile on folks, but I stand by my cost related post above. Do you feel like you or I should pay more for health insurance because others eat poorly, smoke or make other bad life choices? I'd rather just pay for my own risk profile.
It's better than paying for insurance for those that are obviously physically able to work and don't. But they have to have insurance. Who's been paying for that? Or the free cell phones for those that don't work for them? Obesity isn't always a choice. I know people that are obese and work every day. This is not America's problem. It's the dead beats all together, rather it be the lazy obese trying to use the system or the lazy thin person sitting at home taking advantage of the system.
How about not paying for those folks either? Why link the two? Independently, there's no reason one person's decision to eat poorly or smoke should cost me one penny.

Hell my father isn't what you'd consider a good person but I didn't start "stress eating" which in turn would cause heart disease or diabetaz (RIP Wilford Brimley) and never will due to my suspect upbringing. Btw eating healthier is relatively inexpensive. Get it together for the sake of humanity.
Maybe you should move to a perfect world, where Christ didn't have to die for our sins and stupidity. It seems it's all about you and your money. How much are you actually losing? Because, l'm more on the lower middle class side. Me and my family are living pretty good.
I take care of all types in the OR everyday. Some fat, some skinny, some smoke, some drink, some with teeth( or not), some just have bad genes and some claim to be none of the above but turn out to be the angriest, self-centered pricks I come across. I get the feeling a number of you a$$holes fall into the latter category.
So I started working at 14. I put myself through college Bachelors in Business and Psychology. I worked in the same place for 25 years. As a middle aged adult was diagnosed with a severe progressive muscle myopathy. The disease slows metabolism and due to muscle atrophy cause severe inactivity. And this is my fault? I should be responsible for 100% of my healthcare? You have some compassion for me? I would rather be disabled/overweight than an arrogant prick any day

Honestly I have a hard time valuing the opinion of any of you guys who, if number of messages equates to time spent on this site, appear to spend every waking moment on Tiger Illustrated. Pull yourself away from the computer screen, fat or skinny, and get busy doing life. Addiction to anything( hint, hint ) is not healthy.
I lost about $15,000 last year to the government. I'm sure others on the board lose much more, relative to their income.

Yeah I lose to, not sure how much. And I hate it myself. But the way I see it is. At the end of the day. I have a roof over my head. I'm able to buy things that I need, not want. Sure I would love to have more money that the government is taking for those that won't work and won't buy their own insurance. I'm very conservative by the way, but until it affects my everyday life. I'm not going to worry about it. I grew up more on the poor side, but never went without my needs. My kids have so much more than they actually need. I think most people are just more worried about their way of life being affected than really trying to solve the problem.
Yeah, I don't know why people get so mad about things like this. After all, we have a subscription to TI! I'll happily make my home a card board box as long as I got a phone and TI. Think I might downsize, just to become rich.
