Basketball is my favorite sport but we are always in the hunt...don’t always like the way it finishes but we make noise when it matters most.
There's another dynamic going on here, too. Unhappiness feeds on itself. Veteran posters know the history of other veteran posters with whom they disagree and they load up the ammo for further arguments against those they don't like. Happens ALL THE TIME. Flammable discussions catch fire. It's one of the least likable things about the board, Imo.
Goals always change.
There was a time I thought this team would limp in as a 10 or 11 seed and go out in the 1st round.
They showed me they were better than that, and my expectations grew.
Then a Duke-esque easy path to the final 4 showed up. Kansas State and Loyola to get through this weekend and we're back where we belong.
Even if you lose at that point, a Final 4 is always something special. Recruits will see that and get excited about Kentucky again like they were several years back.

Otherwise, we spend an awful lot of time dissecting and analyzing EVERY recruit from the standpoint of "accolades and star ratings".
Exactly. Try being a Redleg fan or a Bengal fan. Getting to the playoffs (= the Big Dance) almost never happens and looks bleaker with each passing year. The cats are ALWAYS more than competitive. Yes this was a "down "year. But our down years are others "memorable" moments.The sun will come up tomorrow. I am 80 now and we have won 8 titles in my lifetime. I figure I'll live to see another. GO CATS!!!
JUst like we had a clear path to a final four this year? Or my favorite when the draw came out. “Arizona vs Kentucky will be the championship game”.
We werent second best. We didn’t get past the elite 8. Just about any coach out there could have us in the top 20 every year that is no feat. We brought cal in for championships and he raised expectations by saying when he was hired “I want to catch UCLA” “I want to have an undefeated team at U.K.” you guys act like we the fans have the high expectations when in fact it was cal himself that elevated the stakes. You need to do some homework and quit saying we “would have won it all if we beat UNC” we didn’t and who the hell knows if we woulda won it all.
Btw what banner is hanging in rupp for last season? I thought so....
The "sky is falling" types are an extreme, as are the Pollyannas. Both merit your scolding.
Suggesting that all people must be happy with this season or with recent history is immature, however. Try telling Hillary disciples that they should be happy, because she raised more campaign cash, got more pay-for-play cash than anyone in history, and won the popular vote.
I think the overwhelming majority of Americans don't sit around saying "don't worry, be happy" when they lose. However, if you fancy yourself an emotional and spiritual leader whose mission is to tell be people to be happy when they lose, then don't worry, be happy, and spend an extra 10 minutes in front of the mirror each morning.
I, on the other hand, think that most of the criticism on RRafters is well thought out, much of it has merit, and I have no interest in silencing it.
