Mullen did say he wished we could've signed another CB but that was probably the case even if AJ was returning.

The only thing we know at this point is he is enrolled and taking classes. As 8Dog said, Murray is doing his best to say a lot on the subject and say nothing at all at the same time. He has mentioned it "being out of the AD's hands" and "it's a university issue." This makes no sense to me because if it was a university thing that might keep him off the field in the fall it would also keep him out school. The university doesn't dictate suspensions to the athletic department. It'll be interesting to see if he goes through spring drills.

b/c Murray was spouting this off well before spring semester started so AJ was certainly not ineligible due to academics b/c he could pass the spring.

No. And that's what doesn't make any sense. Like I said, the university doesn't dictate on-field suspensions. Further, if AJ is on academic probation he most likely won't be eligible to play due to NCAA rules about hours passed and the percentage of credits towards a degree you must have completed. As 8Dog pointed out, Murray was making reference to this way before Fall grades were released. I just can't figure out how he could be suspended due to university issues that are out of the athletic department's hands if it doesn't stem from Gun-gate.

I still don't know why we didn't put more effort into recruiting Gerald West. Heck, if he was willing to renig on Bama to go to USM for more immediate playing time, I would have thought he would have done the same for us and still be able to play in the SEC. With him being a legacy for us, just don't see why we didn't pay him more attention given he plays a position we had an immediate need for.

this is a failed drug test issue. the university DOES dictate on field suspensions-i was an athlete for two years, and as of 3 years ago you can be suspended by the university and the athletic administration has absolutely no say, not even a little bit about it-the way they can do this is absences... they dont even give a specific number they just say if you miss class and we deem it a problem we will suspend for x games, if you do it again x more games etc. usually its 3 absences which isnt very many but luckily some teachers dont take roll and other dont report
