seems like a perfect fit!

Leavitt has spent the past two seasons at ASU playing for Dillingham and alongside star wide receiver Jordyn Tyson. He last played on Oct. 25 before undergoing season-ending surgery to address a foot injury.

The 2024 Big 12 Freshman/Newcomer of the Year opted to stay in Tempe after the Sun Devils’ run to the College Football Playoff last year, entering 2025 as a dark horse Heisman candidate and potential first-round NFL Draft pick.

He has two more years? Would he be healthy and participate in spring practice? If so, worth a look, but at some point Iowa is going to have to identify QB talent and develop it rather than relying on the portal.

While Leavitt could be sensational, I'd rather go with the guy who's been here, the guy Iowa recruited, the guy who's studied Lester's system, the guy who could be the answer for the Hawkeyes--Hecklinski. Let's stick with him and spend the money on more WRs, some breakaway RBs, maybe a linebacker and a D-back or two. Everything looks shiny from the outside, but if Iowa had stuck with Sullivan this year I suggest they would be no worse than 8-2 right now and headed for the CFP.

If he's just looking for a big payday, he wouldn't fit in Kirk's culture. Kirk can probably sniff that out a mile away.

I think Heck carries it and if Brown leaves we will pick up a guy from somewhere.
Has the staff just given up on Jimmy Sullivan? From I have read Lester really likes him. Dual threat guy who has stuck it out while we bring in QBs from the portal. I so want to see us develop QBs we recruit from the high school ranks. That seems the foundation we need to build on instead of cycling through QBs from the portal.

Jimmy Sullivan is only a Freshman, so he hasn’t been sticking it out for that long and has plenty of time left to earn the starting spot.

When Gronowski leaves after this year, it could come down to Hecklinski vs. Sullivan battling for the spot.

I wasn’t impressed with Brown, although it was a very small sample size.

Good point on Sullivan especially if we start to let the QBs in the program compete for the starting job. I like your scenario and would add Jackson Stratton to the mix to add depth along with the freshman QB coming in. If Fitzgerald sticks around and doesn't follow his dad to a new school the QB room looks in the best shape it has in a good while.

I would take him as Iowa always offers QB’s with damaged goods unfortunately…

To be honest I totally forgot about him? And he was damn good in HS… but Hellinski is a great dual threat qb but obviously we haven’t seen him pass yet I believe? But he looked like he was shot out of a cannon on his first TD as a Hawkeye

I'd rather see what the QB from the university of Delaware can do. He's a junior with one more year of eligibility. They played on one of them midweek games and impressed. Not a big arm but the ball comes out early and confidently.

I think I’ve had enough of the transfer QBs for a couple of years. Don’t get me wrong I love MG11, but like develop our own guy and let me play a couple of years like we used to….

I think it is time we stop chasing QBs with our money. I think we ride with the guys we have in Heck and Sullivan as well then spend money on whatever it is we need the most. LB, CB, OL, WR... whatever.

If Iowa is going to portal another QB, it should be performance-based NIL and not just the standard "here's a couple of Mil" payout.

Heck and Brown, not Sullivan, but perhaps even another qb already on the roster who really shows up

Ravioli's lil bro just decommitted from Braska, so maybe they will be a package deal! Ravioli and mini-ravioli
Uncle Crappy OL Coach would have to be part of the deal. I'm guessing he's hired a real estate agent by now.

Iowa should spend that QB kitty on other positions. All of it. Its wasted money on QB.

We have QBs and do NOT need a portal project.
Do we have QB’s? Our next man in was 3rd string half the season and has zero experience. That’s it. Just think if we had an experienced QB who wasn’t injured and could throw. Grono had the big pick to start the IU game, was totally ineffective in the passing game against Iowa St and missed some huge passes against USC. I actually thought he was really good against Oregon. Now maybe Hecklinski is “that guy.” But I’m going to say we’ll still be looking at a portal guy if it’s available.
