is killing this draft

Hats off to them for Identifying and developing talent, because they sure don’t recruit well.

Best 7-8 win team in the country!

And a 4 win Nebraska team destroyed a defense with 5 Early round draft picks. Coaching matters. Iowa sucks.

Yeah - Phil Parker is horrible. Keep in mind they were down to their bench at CB that night - should have done some different schemes but I can’t think of a DC we’ve had in the past 20 years that could carry Phil’s spit bucket. For Iowa to win the number of games they did with the garbage offense they had - their D was legit.

Nebraska fan stating facts because I watched Iowa games. Their D was big time considering how often they were on the field and how bad their O was.

Lol, good one iowa fan. We’ve been told repeatedly by most iowa fans that iowa would be Alabama with an average offense. iowa fans will always be the national champs of excuse making and woulda, coulda, shoulda BS. Were you even alive during iowa’s best years 1958-1960? I’m old AF and I missed it by a few years.

Their defense was hardly elite considering the typical horrible Big 10 offenses they faced while also combining the annual favorable scheduling they also receive from the schedule makers.

Do you remember how Nebraska took that "elite" or "big time" defense out behind the woodshed last year? Nebraska could have scored 50+ points on Parkers heralded defense if they wouldn't have taken their foot off the gas.

Then after the game the excuses were flying from some of the delusional Iowa faithful how, if they wouldn't have lost their best player on defense the game would have been much different. Really, removing one player no matter how good makes a really great defense turn to total garbage just like that?

I just laugh at the thought of how Iowa fans actually think they have anything more than a mediocre at best football team.

He needs to see highlights how Palmer abused and torched Riley Moss in the Senior Bowl workouts back in February, I don’t care what Ioway DB was on him They weren’t going to be stopping him..

Fact a 4 win team with an interim coach torched Philip Parker and Captain K. Deal with it Hawkeye.

They face some of the worst offenses year in and year out. It is like being the tallest midget.

NU held the ball for more than half the game, with no running game. NO OL and one fast player, that torched them for like 175 yards and a few TD's.

I am sure it was tough to play against SDSU and Iowa State...

Dude - I’m not a Hawkeye. Making an observation about another team is not anti-Nebraska. It’s like I tell my kids - a compliment to someone is not an insult to you. Let me know if you want some other elementary advice that may help you along your journey.

If you look at the season as a whole and not specifically the husker game their d was solid. Wasn’t saying it was Alabama or top 5 - just saying it was better than the crap show we have been throwing on the field forever.

Iowa players get looked over a lot because they don't attend camps and commit early to Iowa.

Campbell for instance was a 3* most places. Based on size and speed for LB he should have been a 5* out of HS. One of the better in-state players I've seen.

Keep in mind Herky’s only played 2 offensive teams that were above the top 55 teams in the county in total offense..
Good point. Their Cover 2 defense and the players they recruit are well suited for the Big 10. When they encounter teams with elite skill position players (Ohio State, Trey Palmer, etc), they struggle.

Losing DeJean absolutely was a huge hit. Credit goes to Whipple for attacking right away. Thompson and Palmer were no match for the fourth and fifth string CB’s that got abused. That’s not to say Nebraska wouldn’t broken broken one because Cooper got beat two other times last year that I remember. Parker didn’t adjust very well and Nebraska took advantage. All three TD passes came against those back-ups.

Cooper also punt returns and more than likely doesn’t muff the punt right after half. The game is completely different if he doesn’t get hurt but it doesn’t matter in the end. Iowa didn’t adjust and Nebraska did. That’s how you win…or lose.

I agree that DeJean getting hurt was a big deal, since he was by far Iowa's best DB. His injury early in the game certainly exposed how overrated Riley Moss is.

How so? Moss didn’t give up anything. It was a true freshman scholarship player and a true freshman walk-on that gave up the TD’s.

True - but I think the point is - if Riley is your stud - line him up with Trey and go good on good.
