what if we have been holding back our Running QB until B1G play and come out with a totally new dimension? The shirt was burned...

Oh by the way Weigers kid that decommitted was passed over in game two and they burned their freshman QBs redshirt.

What other what ifs do we have?

Knew about Weigers. Has he played this year? According to his bio he played 1 game in '14 and 3 in '15.

Your 1st part is interesting. I'd like to hope so but I wonder if they were willing to hold anything back against an offense that can put up points like UNM. We shall see.

This is nothing more than wishful thinking. The offense we've seen is the best we have but there's always hope it can get better each week..... I actually expect to see some improvement in all aspects of the team each week but am realistic enough to know there's going to be slow progress.

The guy in front of me last week called me "Mr. Sunshine".

I've always felt the element of surprise is far more important than getting real game reps for highly inexperienced personnel.

This is a variation of the old " we ran a vanilla offense" excuse against a Norfolk state, for example.... To make up a reason for a sputtering offense...

As the other fella said, we are what we are....... The offense could and should get better as the season goes on, as the player and staff find things that work... We hope

What if Turay is secretly 100%?

We wheel out a giant wooden box onto the field with "SECRET WEAPON" printed on it during pregame warmups. The Knight rides over, dismounts from his horse, and uses his sword to pry off the front revealing the man himself....

...The Return of the Kemoko Dragon... there will be sacks.

Yeah I am sure ash held back his best players and almost lost to New Mexico, fell behind to Howard and got throttled by Washington so we can surprise someone in game 4 .

I've been thinking along the same lines, but the criteria won't necessarily be the start of B1G play vs. Iowa, but rather when the running QB is ready to go. It's my wish that day comes soon because, as we all know, Laviano is not the QB for this power spread offense.

That's a silly thought. These guys go all out to win every game.

The difference between game 3 and game 4, and every subsequent game, is additional time in the playbook and on the practice field. And the element of surprise (with there being no film for opposing coaches) is always a factor and weapon. If I had to guess, we will see Odin and/or Resigno in more principal roles by the IL game.

We need to get back to our defense scoring points and getting us good field position. We have 3 INTs through this point of Sept. which is as good as any Flood team (except his first year which was really Schiano's defense.) We've actually had a few misses on INTs which says we are in the right position to make plays.

Our offense will continue to struggle but hopefully improve as the year goes on. Our defense seems to be improving slowly and i think this is our major hope on Saturday.

I think our first step in Big Ten play in "the hunt" is to prove we can defend someone. the blowouts of the flood days were due to allowing 500+ yards of offense to teams.

Showing improvement each week is a real problem when the opposition gets so much better. As good as Washington and even New Mexico looked, it will probably pale in comparison to some of the elite BIG teams just over the horizon.
Somehow, our team has to find out what it does best and try to capitalize on these areas. Not an easy task.

I don't know. there may be something to this. It seemed that Hamilton didn't play for nearly the whole first qrtr of Howard. I was wondering why? maybe Ash was giving him a rest with the hope that he would'nt be needed.

Some of you folks have no imagination.
Back to the OP.

What if Rettig and TO line up behind center and if its a pass play, the ball is hiked to Rettig and if run, it goes to TO. Defend that! Lets call it the double wild knight.

What if it turns out that Drew Mehringer has some eligibility left and becomes the first player manager in college football. Wasn't he a receiver???

What if Grant lines up on the outside on punts and turns out to be a better blocker than punt returner?

And so forth.

Well, now, uh, Lancelet, Galahad, and I wait until nightfall,
and then leap out of the rabbit, taking the French by surprise -- not only
by surprise, but totally unarmed!

Yep. There's no way Ash would have been holding back our best offensive weapons and schemes against UDubs or when we were down 14-0 to Howard or 21-0 to NM. Our offense is what it is, and we can expect some progress to be made in various areas (please get the ball to Harris and Flanagan, as well as Goodwin in the flat), but there is no way a coach schemes and practices in August and September differently so he can catch the B1G off guard. Players couldn't make those sorts of adjustments.

Funny post. Just adding that DM was a QB at Rice. Injured his knee so hopefully he is 100% by now.
