Didn’t realize how awful UNI was this year. Hawks aren’t really playing that sharp but still flirting with a 30 pt lead

Emely has a nice Eurostep. She has to finish at the rim better. It will happen consistently once she figures it out.

UNI lost most of their scoring to graduation, transfers out and players with eligibility retiring. First time the cupboard has been this bare for coach Warren since she got there, I'd guess. Quite possibly single digit W's for them this season, even in the MVC.

This might be the clunkiest 35 pt win I’ve ever seen. Hasn’t been any rhythm the entire game. Seems to always happen in Cedar Falls men or women

I don’t mind her taking them in these types of games to hopefully not let herself get confident enough to take them in bigger games.

That would be nice, but I just don't see all this talk of her becoming a better three point shooter. I know people thing Deal has a ways to go, (I think she is progressing) but I'd much rather have Deal, ERod, Chit Chat, or eve Stremlow taking a late three then Hannah. She's not a shooter. Also about Deal, notice once again in just 15 minutes she leads the team in assists.

I guess I would prefer the players to stick with what they’re good at and not do what they’re bad at, regardless of opponent.
This. Jans trying to help her become a more viable draft prospect, and open the floor for Ava, but its not there. They'll have to stick with the hi/low post when their both on the floor.

I'd much rather have her work on a midrange game. Seems she is either taking it to the rim or a 3 pointer.

God I hate to be a negative Nelly but I don’t think the midrange is her game either. Reminds me a bit of Tyler cook who wanted to be like his high school teammate jason Tatum, and he started taking all kinds of midrange shots, which he sucked at. If he would have decided to go the Reggie Evans route he could have had a long career in the nba. I feel the same about Hannah. She’s so athletic imho she should focus on being as physical as possible and run run like she used to do with Caitlin.

Oh I agree with ya...I just meant that when they wanted her to be a 4 and work on her outside shot...I would have preferred she work on a midrange game over shooting 3's. She spent 3 years not showing any of the outside game and pretty hard to suddenly as a SR come up with it.

HS likely gets drafted to the WNBA, but with zero outside offense and way too short to play the "5", she's probably looking at playing in Europe.

I don’t necessarily disagree but Reese is only 6’3 and is an atrocious shooter. I think HS could make the W but she has to be a dog and play more like Reggie Evans and less like Tyler cook.

I just knew she was going to prove herself and it’s only the beginning. She is going to be very solid for Iowa women’s basketball till the end of her career. Proud of her after battling one and a half years for her knee recovery.

Aneesah Morrow is listed at 6'1" but known to be shorter--between 5'11" and 6'0". With no outside offense, she's doing just fine in the WNBA. People also thought Kate would be drafted and not stick on a team.

Did you watch Hannah at Americup? She defended Cardozo and Dantas incredibly well. She also set screens for the guards incredibly well. She was indirectly responsible for a number of points.

Hannah has flaws, but her growth since the start of freshman year has been incredible. I rewatched her first games at Iowa recently. I'm certainly not sure she will succeed in the WNBA, but I think she has a good chance of sticking a bit with expanded rosters. I wish the more negative Iowa fans could focus in on the positives Hannah brings.

She's fast and has a lot of hustle. She's an excellent defender now. She's smart and plays good team defense. She is also very team-first and smart in where to be on offense. She had to figure out last year how to play without Caitlin out there putting the ball exactly in the right place for her. She was surrounded by such an experienced well-oiled experienced group her first two years. So it was like a second freshman year for her last year, to figure it all out without them around her. I think the game re-sped up temporarily. She was coming off surgery. But I think by February, you could see things clicking with her. It will be interesting to see how this year continues to go. We know Iowa produces smart players who don't need set plays etc. I wouldn't count her out yet.

McKenna's dad:

Don't recall if I've posted anything like this previously, so if I have, my apologies but............I agree wholeheartedly with McKenna's Dad.

IMO, Journey Houston looks to be an absolute killer for Iowa Women's Basketball in the future. As good as some of the other newcomers have looked, she has the biggest long term upside of all of them I believe.

Can't even say anything in particular stands out, she just seems to be in the right place at the right time doing what needs to be done every single time. I didn't have real high hopes for her early based on her last year of High School, injuries and what not, but Iowa has a DAWG on their hands.

Not pretending to be a Women's Basketball expert, but I think barring any injury setbacks Journey Houston is going to be a STAR at Iowa. (and no, I am not related to her or from Davenport - 🙂 - she just impresses the hell out of me whenever she's on the floor).
