Aside from Chit Chat Iowa has no perimeter quickness, No threat to beat anyone off the dribble. UCONN has two first team AA players, Iowa has a long ways to go from a pure talent standpoint.
This!!! Plus I would add we do not have athletic bigs who can shoot the three…

Honestly, Unconn is going to win it all. They are just that good. That being said it would have been a good sign if we could have kept it within 10 points….
I was hoping for beating the spread. They are that much better than we are. They have the best player/roster in the country. At one point I said to my wife, “A year ago, Journey was guarding girls in the MAC which sucks. Now she’s guarding the best player in the country. It’s an eye opener.”

We have Addie and Makenna next year. Looking forward to it.

I like Jan, I just don’t think she will get the players we need to make a deep run in the tournament. I want to be wrong, I just don’t see it.

Jan needs to find a real offense. This offense is a joke
UConn plays excellent on ball defense. Iowa lacks the ability to take them off the dribble, While Jan can try to make adjustments and she sure isn't infallible. The difference in talent is pretty wide.

I love that Iowa competes for top recruits, but we need to win a few more of those battles to sniff the elite level again

It seems like there is a massive drop off in talent from the top 1-5 and the rest of the top 25. We are getting top ranked players, but the quality differences varies significantly as you move down the rankings.

If you cut the 26 IOWA turnovers down to 12, look what happens:

* You reduce the 41 pts UCONN scored off Iowa's turnovers

* You have 14 more possessions on offense (IOWA shot 49% for the game so, when you do the math: 14 more possessions x 2 pts x .49 = 14 points lost out on)

Suddenly that 26 point loss (90-64) turns into a very close game.

Yep. I was initially hoping we'd keep it under 15. Then I was just hoping we'd manage to lose by less than what #16 USC lost to UConn by (on USC's home court). We did do that at least😅

A lot of things weren't great today, but there were a lot of promising things too. The team is way ahead of where almost anyone thought they would be before the season began.

I just hope Kylie is ok. I do think e'd have lost by less than 20 if she'd not gotten injured.

Unless Addie makes a big jump there isn’t much to get excited about.
Almost any team in the country would snatch Chit Chat, Ava, Layla, Addie and Journey out of the portal in a heartbeat with a check in hand. Other teams' fans would be very excited by them.

Recruiting to Iowa may well be made more difficult by the enormous negativity of the online fans.

I think a lot of these guys get off just being negative, why else would people act like total spazz’s about losing to a team that has won 70 plus games in a row!

One thing that is actually concerning is Ava’s slump continuing. We really need her to break out of that funk heading into conference play.

Difference in coaching is wider
Dude, they have the best player in the country in Strong and Fudd might be the second best player. You switch those 2 players with any 2 players on Iowa's roster and the Hawks win going away, just like UConn did today. The biggest difference today was talent, pure and simple. With that said, the Hawks need to be much stronger with the ball and their passing than they were today. A lot of those turnovers had to do with the quickness and length of Uconn, but a lot of them were also the Hawks just looking really rattled at times. It was a learning experience no doubt and games like this pay much bigger dividends down the road than blowing out Bucknell by 50.

Probably not the players themselves. But some family members and romantic partners of players definitely have read some of the forums. If my kid was being recruited somewhere, I'd definitely check out spaces like this--at minimum to see potential recruiting rumors etc.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a very Merry Christmas. So, give it up.

…..and they would discover that Iowa fan forums are not that much different than other team fan forums - a public forum open to anyone where anonymous posters state a wide range of opinions on the players, the coaches, the state of the program, etc. - some being intelligent and well reasoned, some plain dumb, including baits laid by flaming loons and trolls. This isn’t a church service
