Iowa’s outmanned a little bit this year, I think we all see that, especially against a team like Michigan State. McCollum will find a way to have success in this league, with this roster. Looking forward to watching it unfold

Add wrestling or round up. I'm averaging . My goodness. Pay $2.41 per game. My point stands. Thanks for reminding everyone how much our fan base is not interested in a winner.
Well I didn't mean to imply this game was voluntary, but one of the reasons they didn't play a top 10 team in the non-conference season was likely because they would be playing teams like MSU, Purdue, and Michigan. Probably not the best strategy for getting prepared to beat those teams but it is a better strategy for racking up enough wins to make the tournament. It allows you to use the Big 10 matchups as your "learning experiences" so, hopefully, by the time you reach the tournament they are ready to compete with those teams. At least, that's the the theory. You schedule non con games to work on things. We played MSU on the road because thats the schedule we got from the B1G.
What is it with you focusing on Iowa star players and crapping on them? You do the same thing to Caitlin Clark whenever you get a chance.A nightmare first half for Stirtz.
Hawks will be fine. Obviously not a great game last night but this Hawkeye team will win lots of games. I just can't figure Hausen situation.Getting punched in the mouth will be good medicine for this team,... Welcome to the B1G boys.
Izzo understands the art of bench jockeying. He has done it forever. It’s part of the game. Sparty kicked Herky’s *** last night. You can’t really be surprised can you? MSU had a good night and Iowa had a bad one. Iowa ain’t gonna beat too many teams running their offense from 35’ out and taking 25 foot jump shots. I think they will get better as the season moves on.If the BIG commissioner must be so proud seeing their dean of bball coaches eff bombing in official's faces for 40 mins on end. If they had any self respect they'd tee him up but alas they just let it go over and over.
I agree with Hausen - this team needs shooters and at the very least he can do that. At least give him more of a shot to see if he is "on" for the given night. There are holes on the roster, probably would have been better to use a scholarship and take a flyer on a guy in the portal than give one to a guy like Matteoni who couldn't even see the floor at drake. Also I don't know why Hausen isn't playing more.
Matteoni was a true freshman last year. You expected him to see the floor on a 31-4 team? There are holes on the roster, probably would have been better to use a scholarship and take a flyer on a guy in the portal than give one to a guy like Matteoni who couldn't even see the floor at drake. If he's transferring to a P4 team, yes he unequivocally should have seen the floor on a 31-4 mid major team. It would have been more appropriate to have him transfer as walk on with a chance to earn a scholarship than to just be given one.Matteoni was a true freshman last year. I assumed that Hausen would be in the starting lineup when we landed him -he showed he can score at KSU. I've heard random comments that he's not a great defender so my guess is Ben is limiting his minutes for that reason. I'd like to see Hausen and the Spaniard in the starting lineup to have our best shooters on the floor.I agree with Hausen - this team needs shooters and at the very least he can do that. I do think this would be beneficial to Stirtz and give him some more spacing. Banks can play a lot of positions defensively so maybe bring him off bench as he did last year. Folgueiras does need to play better though last 2 games he looks something between frustrated and lost. In about 30 combined minutes he's had 3 points, 3 rebounds, and 6 turnovers.I assumed that Hausen would be in the starting lineup when we landed him -he showed he can score at KSU. Ben does not gush over how good MSU was, just pointing at him and his team.
SA used to get hammered by fans for pointing out the players faults.
Fran never singled out players for criticism.
Dr Tom was a players coach.
Never offended me really when coaches get analytical to explain where we fell short.
Just interesting that the hangover from a win over Ole Miss would screw us up a week later.
What the hell does Izzo actually say for 40 min? Dude never stops talking

I’m familiar with Paul Burmeister. He wasn’t exactly pro Iowa when he did the Indiana / Iowa football game either.
I think he does a pretty good job as an analyst, partly because he doesn't shill for the old black and gold. I relate him to Troy doing the Cowboy games. He's a pro, and he's not there to gloss for Jerry. I'd prefer this type of announcing to some of the others who do their alma maters and doing nothing but gloss for their old teams. Guys like the ex USC guys, some of the ex Illinois guys like Bardo, and Settles is pretty over the top pro Hawkeye. Ther are many examples.I’m familiar with Paul Burmeister. Not sure how they've "passed " us in womens basketball. Why don't we wait a couple of weeks on that one.Agreed

I think you are underrating the players as mostly mid majors, and Stirtz is regarded as a 10 to 20 pick in the draft. MSU is really good and east Lansing is one of the hardest places to play, but that doesn’t mean he just didn’t seem to be himself with the missed free throws and turnovers. With that being said, we lose that game 9 out of 10 times, regardless of how Stirtz played.
Maybe, but all of the "Drake guys" have holes in their game. Good at this, not so good here. Thats just being real. Good athletes, but undersized across the bard except Stirtz. We have one "center sized" guy, and the freshman isn't ready for that level of play, understandably. And yes, The Breslin center is one of the toughest tests along with Mackey....I think you are underrating the players as mostly mid majors, and Stirtz is regarded as a 10 to 20 pick in the draft. They do, but so have most of our players. That's why we haven't done jack **** in the tournament in forever.Maybe, but all of the "Drake guys" have holes in their game.
Agree, it was time to move on no doubt. BMac will get it doneNo surprise to me that this team was going to struggle against the best teams in the B1G. Ben did an excellent job putting together a team almost from scratch, but there are obvious holes.
It's the very beginning of a rebuild. They may not make the Dance. If they don't, I'll still be happy to move on from Fran.
Pretty amazing that Iowa State wins their first dual meet against Iowa in 20 years and maybe 2nd since 1986 and all of a sudden they have passed the Hawks in wrestling too. Typical over reaction. Not sure how they've "passed " us in womens basketball. Why don't we wait a couple of weeks on that one.
But truthful. She gets the ball 10 feet from basket and just backs over the defender and pushes her out of the way. Can she even make a basket more than 5 feet from the rim? (I haven't watched since last year, so am not sure about this)Classy.
There's bench jockeying and there's acting acting like a complete ahole and screaming F bombs inches from an official. Izzo has long ago crossed the line from being "tough" on officials and it's ridiculous what he's allowed to get away with. If the conference had any balls they'd address it with hefty fines and suspensions.Izzo understands the art of bench jockeying. He has done it forever. It’s part of the game. You’d love to have him as yours. The guy can coach. He ain’t winning games and championships because he uses magic words….Give the guy some credit. Not overly concerned with how this transplanted Drake team performs this season,.. I'll be watching how McCollum recruits for the future.
You can have a difference of opinion, but I am not wrong. If Matteoni was ready and able to contribute last year he would have. Isaia Howard was able to contribute as a freshman. My point still stands that he more than likely was not worthy of a P4 scholarship. You're wrong.
Ben likes to redshirt his freshman. He must be good enough to bring him to Iowa with him.You can have a difference of opinion, but I am not wrong.
