Not leaving. Got it. Still men's wrestling head coach?

Just a strange way to word a rebuttal. That said Mineo is often in error. He is bad for wrestling.
He’s a cartoon. Needing to be the first to break news - whether true or not - is lame. Threatening people that disagree with him is lame. Creeping on high schoolers is well creepy. And lame lol

We have to get Women's Wrestling upgraded to D1 level from club.
Agreed. Plenty of talent in this state that will go elsewhere due to not wanting to wrestle for a club instead of receiving a scholarship.

Yes they got Millie Azlin (4x state champ), but she loves OSU and is an Ag girl. So they got lucky there.
Addie Morse from Bixby (3x state champ) wants to go to OSU, she just upset #3 seed all american from McKendree at WTT, she likely is going elsewhere due to not being able to offer a scholarship.

Haven't heard what Emily Beckley is doing but she would be another one for OSU to look at but again, girls aren't wanting to wrestle club when they are receiving scholarship offers.

Perez twins are going to Fort Hayes, could see them potentially staying if promoted.

ISU cut a women's sport (gymnastics) to add women's wrestling. Which sport do you cut? Can't be Equestrian as it helps offset a lot of men's scholarships (title IX).

Someone has to be a voice for 99% of sports fans. No one cares about women's sports. They never have and they never will. Maybe that's not fair, but it is true.

Adding women's wrestling would only distract donors, coaches, and athletes from men's wrestling at perhaps the most critical window in the history of the program. We need everyone involved in the program to be laser focused on nothing but chasing down PSU.

If it was a good idea, Cael would be pushing it at PSU. Always remember that.

Point well put, in several ways.

But, I enjoy women’s wrestling, a lot. So that was wrong. Also, I give and my wife doesn’t complain. In Cleveland, Becca (hell of a salesman) has my wife wanting to give money. We will, and our contributions won’t waiver to men’s.

Donor fatigue is a real thing, and everyone is protective of their donors. There is also a very clear food chain with football at the top. Everyone higher on the chain gets irritated when people start shaking down their donors for something lower on the chain.

It used to be true. It is not anymore.

In 2023 a WNBA expansion franchise cost $50 million. This year it is $250 million, and they had to turn applicants away.

I personally have no interest in most women's sports, but the numbers tell the story that other people do.

100% accurate on donor fatigue.

Yes, the Football situation of the last two years made the food chain very apparent. That’s different now.

However, we currently need to strike that donor base. It’s active, it’s excited and it’s pleased. Girls Wrestling is not a huge expenditure currently. I doubt it gets that bad budget wise…but it could?

There is tons of value in having it! There are also some logistical issues that will be faced. But the “Home of Wrestling” has to be welcome to women too!

This is a hilarious take coming from a wrestling fan, you should take a look at how wrestling viewership compares with women’s basketball, softball, volleyball, etc.

Adding a women’s team will have a negligible effect on the men’s team. It’s not going to take coaches or athletes(?) away and I’m not even sure why you’re concerned about donors if they don’t care about the sport.

Honestly, he’s not wrong on the money portion. Some people have to choose how to donate their $1000 and that COULD dilute what goes towards the men.

But, I fully believe we will see a capturing of more donor base and raise exponential amounts of money compared to what we do now? I could be wrong.

But the guys love the girls and support them and those girls work their tail off supporting those guys. Hell, if you didn’t notice, it was the girls team bartending every tailgate, helping at the golf tourney and running errands at NDIs, Big Xii’s and a few in Cleveland.

There is a culture being forged and I think it includes women 100%!

That's great with me. There are a bunch of ways to include the women that don't involve creating a new program.

Let them work the tailgate, send Jax to sign autographs at the OSSAA girls tournament, have DT teach a few moves at a summer camp, give them an exhibit at the Hall of Fame.

Focus. Focus. Focus. After we knock PSU off the mountaintop, then we can start to spread our attention to other random objectives.

What if having a woman’s program helps that main objective?

You do know women control the most valuable commodity? They have control of half the money and all of that commodity. Maybe it’s smart to employ that?

We can disagree and that’s okay. I’m just saying to take a hard look at the fastest growing sport in the country and really ask if we should be a part of it!?

I don't think we disagree. I think if we had a private conversation over beers, you would agree with almost everything I've said.

If having a women's program helped a men's program, Cael would be all over it. Why do you think there is zero momentum for it in Happy Valley?

...is promptly paying and supporting for what we already have ideal?.....is this dilution by expansion?......not against anything, but do not additional new calves require additional mommas?........what happens when a surplus of feeders encounters too few tits?.........could you not end up with malnourished young and debilitated old?...............know not the solution to that which is called FAIRNESS or really what it becomes over times.....can the attempts to obtain FAIRNESS only be determined by ticket sales, ala attendance?.......if that was simply true, then why have organic chemistry when the successful expansion of freshman English would be cheaper and easier.........but the expansion of Cowgirls in Cowboy Country is most worthwhile because Cowboys will follow and then the resources could travel to support and encourage both............best to all.......rs

I’m down for the beers.

But, we’d disagree. I think we need the women’s team now.

Also, I don’t care what Cael is doing. He’s a psycho and a bad human. I still can’t believe the Starocci stuff didn’t get a little more traction and exposure.

It would be really cool for OSU to add women's wrestling.

It would be beyond dumb at this point of college athletics to do it though and I would have serious concerns about Chad if he entertained the notion.

Travis, you make this sound like an either/or situation. I support Cowboy wrestling and am 100% in support of a Women's wrestling team at OSU. Donor support will NOT be effected by adding Women's wrestling and as a matter of fact it will be a bonus for Men's wrestling. I will support both teams.

It is a zero sum game. It is nice that you will support both, but every dollar the AD spends on women's wrestling will be a dollar that doesn't go to another sport. Incredibly hard times and some difficult decisions are coming for athletic departments everywhere. I have no idea how OSU is going to support the sports we currently have. Adding another mouth to feed to the AD would be borderline irresponsible.

Now if Chad Richison wants to write a check for $50 million to completely fund the effort that is another story but we should not be looking at adding additional sports in the current climate.
