We will crush the Cyclones today. I know that a lot of our fans are down on this team, I’m not. I believe we will make the adjustments win the conference and be on the podium in Cleveland. Go Pokes !!!

I see the OU dual but not Okstate on the fox sports app.

Pic gets the tech fall in just over 3 minutes.

Brock up 5-1 midway through the second.
I thought Kaid was going to work hard on bottom to get better. He appears to have made very little progress. This will hurt him at Nationals again. He won 6 to 2. Pic was impressive but did not have much of an opponent.

We turned a 2 time national champ into an average I give up wrestler. Sad. He lost to Parker 3 to 1.

Watching Hiel right now is like watching a shadow of his old self

Marsden wins the match. He is better than Moore but man he can not defend his legs.
Moore looked like he has great defense last night, but no offense. Sounds like they’d be the world’s greatest wrestler if we could combine them.

I feel very sorry for Dean right now; it reminds me of Johny Hendricks Sr. year when having the whole of the college wrestling world hating him finally seemed to get to him. I can see how Hiel would be thinking that everyone is out to get him; hell if they didn't make a new anti-Dean Hiel rule just to stop him from winning. At least the Mike Sheets, tech fall rule didn't hurt him.

He seems totally out of sync and desperate and I am deeply saddened every time I see him wrestle. He needs to go back to his basic defensive style that got him to the top and patiently wait for his openings.

All I could think of yesterday was how far the real Big 12 teams (that are still around) have fallen. I'm sure Dresser will get ISU going in the right direction (and Rosselli at OU for that matter) but it is depressing to see us wrestle OU, ISU and WVU and there just aren't any ranked guys.

If we aren’t careful we will Be Wrestling with just a few ranked guys also. It’s sickening to think PSU has a great shot at winning 7 of the last 8 tittles.

Although they have less resources, SDSU and UNI are probably the bigger threats in the Big12 right now. Bono in particular has done a great job building up that program.

Regarding Dean, he's clearly been scuffling the last month. The loses to top guys like Meredith, Jack, and Eierman were at least somewhat understandable. But there have been other signs - Turk got to his legs repeatedly, the unranked WV wrestler took him down. Now he loses to a guy that wrestled 133 just last week.

I agree with others that he needs to forget about being offensive and going for bonus and just revert back to his counter offense / scrambling style (even with the new anti Heil rule). At this point his seed at nationals will take a hit due to this last loss regardless of what he does in the regular season. I would like to see him take a few weeks off, clear his head, get the chip back on his shoulder, and comeback strong for the last dual with Fresno St on 2/18. And then proceed to shock the wrestling world by going on to win his 3rd title!

I'm not buying the defensive style thing for Heil. What kind of "style" did he use on Sunday? He's obviously in a funk, but I don't think it's because of him trying to be an offensive terror.

His defensive style is to not even sprawl or react and just drape over the back and grab an ankle. With the new rules this is not as good a defense as in the past. He will get bent until his back is exposed too often. He also needs to learn to take good shots on offense because he shoots from too far out and his shots are not as quick as they need to be or set up like they need to be. His bad habits have caught him this year. He can recover if he gets himself right mentally. He doesn't need to be a scoring machine but he has some changes to make.

Well I think he wrestles with such a small margin for error but has been able to do with supreme confidence in his abilities to find a win when it matters. That's a lot of pressure to carry for 3 plus years and that has probably weighed on him this year. That along with questions all offseason about the new scrambling rules and how it will effect him specifically.

I think this may have caused him to alter his approach to a degree and has contributed to some of what we have seen. His confidence and edge have also been hurt. Could there be a weight or health issue as well? Sure but I do think he has gotten away some from what go him to this point.

Also, it is amazing to look back at how many seniors going for their third straight title struggle. It is a real thing.

Heil has a month and a half to get his head right. You better know John will work on his mental approach. Beating a 2 time champ in Cleveland is much different than beating him in a dual. Do not discount experience.

Yeah, there is something about Heil that says, I can do it when I decide to. I would not count him out. He may be just taking a breather and getting some fresh air before he tears back into the field. I think Smith is a great one to have in your corner and I think he will calmly get Heil back to form. I am pretty sure he is the guy I will pick on my fantasy NCAA team this year.

Heils like the Cleveland Cavaliers he’s struggling right now but when it matters he’ll be fine.
