Said no one ever. Just imagine the early settlers. They're moving westward in search of a new life. One day, the wagon just stops. The man gives up.

Man: Woman, this is where we stay!
Woman: Council Bluffs? Ewwwww!
Children: I don't want to be from Iowa!! It smells like a cow patty!
Woman: Just look! Across the river! It's so nice over there.
Man: I'm putting my foot down, woman. I iz Iowegian! Laughing

That’s AWESOME!

Too bad Kentucky gave up two pick-sixes and gave Iowa a short field for their offensive touchdown. 2-0 final after 12 overtimes would have been epic

Every winter I wonder if my ancestors got across the Missouri River and were just too tired to go on

I am not the historical authority on here, but I seem to recall reading in an entertaining book the actual early history of Omaha. A bunch of Councilbluffians that wanted to get rich crossed the river and started developing what is now The Old Market. They knew the U.P. train rails would be going through C.B. and Omaha, so they bought land where it was cheap. A funny story from the book was how President Lincoln decreed that the U.P. HQ would be built in C.B. A bunch of rich corrupt Omaha politicians said screw that, and just built it in Nebraska instead. The first permanent RR bridge was built across the Missouri River at that same time. The irony of the story was when it was completed, a giant tornado wiped out most of the bridge and all of the C.B. side. The Omaha side and the new HQ were fine. In the end, they got lucky building it where they did.

Really?

The best thing about Nebraska is seeing it in your rearview mirror, said everyone.

I did not know that. Great story if true.

Some things never change. Politicians in Omaha have wanted to charge anybody that lives outside of Omaha city limits nut work in the city limits a tax for using their roads. Most egotistical, non driving, shooter happy fvcks in a 5 state area.

The ending to the OPs story was the husband and wife crossed the river into Omaha and got caught in a drive by.

I will say I love my Council Tucky. ESPN released a video on Max Duggan being from CB and his mom mentioned it being known as Council Tucky. I cracked up. There are so many over here that get offended by it. They must not go to the west end very much and see the zombies walking around.
