Iowa is actually a great team in that they play as a team. Iowa’s only weakness may be rebounding (they rely too heavily on basically two guys) but Rutgers really battled in that regard so maybe not a true Iowa weakness. They also have a legit Player of the Year candidate.
Will be watching to see how they do in the NCAA tournament.

If Garza and weiskamp got run out of the gym in the first weekend of the ncaa tournament , this iowa team is not gonna fare better. Unless they get some really really favorable matchups.
In March , anything can happen . That’s why it’s just important to get in
Murray improves every game. He has a complete game now to go along with freaky athleticism and good size. Iowa plays great mid-major style ball with good movement offensively and they normally make open shots.

Iowa is going to be an interesting case for making the NCAAs. High net ranking right now but 3-5 B1G and zero quad one wins. I think they need to get to 10 conference wins, which should come with at least one Q1 win, but if that doesn't happen?

Remaining slate:

Home vs PSU
Home vs Purdue

at PSU
at Ohio State

Home vs Minnesota

at Maryland

Home vs Nebraska
Home vs Michigan State

at Nebraska

Home vs Northwestern

at Michigan
at Illinois

Let's say they win at home vs PSU, Nebraska, Minnesota, Northwestern. That's seven conference wins.

Add in road wins at Nebraska and Maryland to get to nine.

Throw in a road win at Penn State or Michigan to get to 10-10. What are the wins that tell you they are a tournament-worthy team? No bad losses, true, but that could be zero Q1 wins. Where does the net ranking end up? They could easily win a couple more than I listed there, finish 12-8, and have zero worries, too.

Lots of ball to be played. Keegan Murray is a superstar. I'm not sure who their #2 guy is, haven't watched them much this season other than last night.

They have Michigan at home too. They’re 3-4 in BIG right now.
10-10 gets them to 20 wins even before the BIG Tourney.
Only home loss is to Illinois which ain’t no big thing.
Their win at UVA is a nice tiebreaker kind of win vs. an ACC team.

I don't think we make the tourney this year. CBB has become so guard dominated in bigger games especially.

We don't have the guards to do it. I like Joe Toussaint a ton, but he is a pass first PG that doesn't have the green light to look for his own points unless the red carpet is there.

Wish Bohannon hadn't come back. It has impaired our other guard development. He's only a help if he's draining threes, otherwise is a total liability.

The two McCaffrey kids shouldn't get more than 10-15 minutes a game, but daddy-ball exists.

We really miss big guy Jack Nunge who transferred to Xavier and is having a great season. I'm guessing he blossomed under their coaching and probably wouldn't have had as great a year had he stayed, so good for him.

Best of luck to you guys. I have us at 7-13/8-12 in the conference. We haven't even hit the Franny February Fade yet.
