The Johnnies game was a joke.

Yes, it was. It certainly made a joke of the fact that a college basketball game has 40 minutes! I was watching on TV and kept waiting for the other refs to call both teams back to the court to finish the game. Never happened.

I said this in real time yesterday… Cliff was open for a game winning lob with 5’6” Bohannan fronting him. Harper could have easily made that pass for a slam dunk at the buzzer. The corn boys were lucky Courtney Green gave them life. Watch the video above.

What is killing me is all this jackholes saying "bad call and it should have been decided in overtime"

Ron had the damn ball with 2.0 seconds to go inside 22 feet..... I say the game winning FG was STOLEN from him... not gifted 2 FTs....

these iowa fans are insane...

1) the ball was on his fingers at 0.00 at end of first half
2) the ball was out on Iowa, not Rutgers
3) you don't body a star player who already won a game at the buzzer unless you want to risk a foul.. they clearly bodied Harper BECAUSE he was a real threat to beat them if he could take a shot... refs have to call that.. Harper was already moving sideways with only 2 seconds left.. why body him? The D you were playing was going to get the job done.

I really think Murray’s left hand got on RHJ briefly and ref who had a great angle saw it to be enough to be a hold. Defender was moving his feet just fine at an appropriate angle but I’m guessing that hand in there was enough. Ref was right there to see it. Plus the defender did lean in a little with the shoulder after he whiffed with the right hand swipe.

RU's favorite ref was doing that game...Tim Higgins 🤬
Thankfully the whole ref team of this game didn't call another game that year...much to the dismay of RU fans.
I happened to meet a referee who worked many games at the RAC over time soon after that game. He was very critical of that referee crew and how unprofessional they were. Also complimentary about how Mike Rice handled himself in the situation.

yes, they called a floor foul - and should have been continuation-2 -and1

plus the out-of-bounds on Paul

Iowa was gifted 3 chances to win.......... so boring hearing their tears today........
There's no continuation in college. That being said, it didn't look like it needed it as he was in his layup motion..but the continuation was the refs thinking so it stayed on the floor

iirc, it was a triumvirate of anti-Rutgers refs.. Higgins, Burr AND Valentine... TOGETHER.

We got "jobbed" so often in the Big East.. the Providence mob would have it no other way.

Cliff had a tough game offensively

it seemed he was just off on many plays where he should have scored

Of course we will never know

It's funny how fans like the ones from Iowa ignore us until they lose. First, they start by blaming everyone else except themselves. Next, they take personal shots at Rutgers fans. Finally, they try to trash the school by bringing up things (Rutgers financial issues) that have nothing to do with getting your *ss kicked on the court. Take the "L" like the B*tches you are. This is why I don't get friendly with other B1G fans. I don't hate them, but I don't trust them because when sh*t goes left, their true inner-self comes out.

The Harper two second foul was enough of a controversy to have Iowa fans complain and I don't blame them.
I saw the replay from two angles and if there was a foul it was not glaringly obvious
Still There may have been enough contact to call it

We get called for touch fouls all the time it seems also

exactly.. that was not denying "continuation".. that was an effort to call the foul on the floor to prevent the basket. Really.. there is no excuse to not calling that a shooting foul... AND 1. Ref would have been on the safer ground not calling it a foul at all... there were plenty of no-calls in that game.

The refs were calling on-ball fouls tight all game. We got two in the first half--one was on Reiber in a similar situation as Murray, and the other was on Miller who didn't even touch the guy. In the first half Iowa got two fouls on them pretty early, then 14 minutes went by before they got another foul called on them. At that point we had 8 fouls to their 3. I prefer it when the refs let the guys bang underneath without calling ticky-tack horseshit because I like defense and can't stand how the defensive players are hamstrung by the rules (this especially applies to DBs in football).

But it's not like the game was a guaranteed win for Iowa had that foul not been called. Ronnie still had two seconds to get a shot off and he was driving to the hole, and he might have made it or he might have been fouled on the shot. Even if not, based on the game itself we had a 50-50 shot of winning it in OT. My estimate is if the foul hadn't been called we had a 75% chance of winning the game.

If Harper was allowed to get into his shooting motion, he may have been able to make the shot or to draw a foul. So it’s not a given that the bad call before the shot was the only way we would win in regulation.

I agree w all of that..I was originally replying to a post saying it was a missed call due to continuation
