Write an essay on how Luka Garza gets fouls called on him equally and don't show a hint of sarcasm. For premium board access include a paragraph on how Coach Franny's buffoonery when the calls are going against him doesn't effect future game calls.

Tremendous respect shown by Iowa for Rutgers.
I wish you could say that for other B1G fans. Minnesota has to lead the bunch for a-holes who hate Rutgers just because.

They sound scared. They are saying we are the second best team in the BIG after Iowa. They are saying this is the toughest game on their schedule. And they think Harper will play and will score over 30.
I think they have been watching BTN too much.

Football is yet to build a B1G rivalry (Maybe MSU starting up? Maryland??) but in b-ball we definitely have a rivalry now with Purdue, and I would also argue Iowa. Some classic games and a team I really love to beat
I'm weird in that I couldn't care less about respect. People usually go from giving no respect (due to lack of success) to jealous hatred (when success finally comes).
I just don't care.
All I care about is winning. Not what other people think.

Seriously, I find it funny that Minnesota fans talks sh*t about every B1G team, but I never thought of them as being a top dog in the league.
Great post. I'm loving how Rutgers sucked and didn't belong in B1G to Rutgers sucks just because we're good enough to beat most of them in football and all of them in basketball now.
I think Iowa is. I sense some animosity from how they won at the RAC on a fluke 3 and we trounced them at their place as payback.
Looking at last few years our rivals are Indiana, Illinois and Purdue. Nice company.
Not sure why. I've been posting on their Football & Basketball board for over a year now.
Entering this season, a few of Harper's best games were against Iowa so it's not surprising they think RHJ will torch the nets against them again.
I think when I first tried posting on the Iowa board I was told insufficient privileges and a link was provided to ask for permission.
Shortly after asking for permission was allowed to post there.

Well, we did clobber them at their place 2 years ago and lost by just 5 at their place last year. And Harper scored 27 and 28 the 2 times he played at Carver, if I recall. So I can understand their respect.
So for the last 3 years, we clobbered them at our place, lost on a banked 3 at our place, clobbered them at their place and lost by 5 at their place.
Either they barely beat us or we clobber them.
The fan bases aren't exited for the RU-Illinois game other than both see it as a rare possible win. I think the Purdue and Iowa fans look forward to their game with us because we had some truly epic games that make the magic happen.
If we beat Mich or PSU for a while in hoops )or football) they will start to hate us really fast and that will blossom because there are a lot of natural connections between the schools.
Big 10 fans from other schools are just odd as to how they view Rutgers. I think we were completely irrelevant until last season and opposing fans came into the RAC expecting the win. I saw some depression set in by many as they exited with the loss last year.

Then there are the fans that travel. In my experience at the RAC, the most obnoxious fans were Indiana, Michigan, Maryland, Wisconsin and Purdue.

Michigan fans were my least favorite, they think they are tough **** when it comes to everything
I think Michigan is solid and possibly the most challenging match up for RU.
I don’t think we’re going to beat Iowa in a shoot out. We may put up a lot of points, but outside of red hot shooting last game, our strong shooting percentage has been heavily driven by defensive stops. We thrive early in the shot clock off of missed baskets. Whether it’s recorded as a fast break bucket or not, our percentages from both 2 and 3 point range are way better overall when we score before the defense gets set. When the opponent makes a high percentage of their shots our offense eventually suffers. Think Syracuse game for example. We needed to lock down on defense to win that one in the end despite hot shooting early in the second quarter. Eventually we break down on offense in a tradiitonal halfcourt game. Fortunately we can translate misses to transition offense pretty easily with our speed. Iowa does need to miss some for that to happen though.

Iowans, in my experience, have been some of the classiest, most knowledgeable fans around. Not just in the B1G, but in the whole of the country.
I also should note, whatever they are feeding their alums (corn, presumably), it's really working. Some really good looking women (older women too) call themselves Hawkeyes. Good on ya Iowa! Keep on corning!

I had a bunch of guests from Iowa at the bar I was working at for a wedding. This was when the first rumors of RU to the B1G had started. When I mentioned that Rutgers was being discussed as a potential B1G member, they just sat there and laughed at what I said.
So, F their fans.
In fairness, alot of us didnt actually believe it would happen. They may have just had trouble believing the b1g was actually gonna expand
