The wait was worth it. They found this guy.

It took them 90 days to find him?

Kkkirk knew what he was looking for.

From an article of when he was let go at Western Michigan:

Tim Lester fired @ Western Michigan

Here's a fun paragraph that Hawkeyes fans will love.

"Offense was the calling card for the Broncos many of the years under Lester, with star players like quarterback Kaleb Eleby and receivers Skyy Moore and D'Wayne Eskridge, among others. All three of those players departed after last season, and despite the hire of a new offensive coordinator in legendary Division III coach Jeff Thorne (father of Michigan State quarterback Payton Thorne), the Broncos finished the season 124th in total offense and 119th in scoring offense. They were held under 20 points eight times, including in three wins."

iowa got their Lester the molester. Hey @RicoSuave102954 … I thought Kirk was waiting till the NFL conference championship games were played, so he could hand pick his coordinator from the NFL’s elite. I guess that was plan D and didn’t work out, or something like that…

Plan A - Bob Stoops 🤣
Plan B - Fired NFL OC (appropriate cause your program is kind of an abortion)
Plan C - Paul Cryst, good ole Pauly boy. (Nope, better luck next time)
Plan D - Coach or coordinator from one of the top 4 teams in the NFL 🤣🤣🤣
Plan E - Some hill billy named Johns? Who couldn’t field a top 100 offense. WTF?
Plan F - Lester the Molester…

Well, Kirk certainly wouldn't want to hire someone who might make his son look bad in comparison.

I hope he doesn't have manboobs. That's a tradition that can stop right now.

Well time will tell but this is appearing to be somewhere between questionable and desperate hire

As crazy as it sounds, I think this is exactly it.

Took 3 months to hire a guy fired by Western Michigan just 10 months after they signed him to a contract extension, when better candidates are available? Nah. No one is that incompetent. This is payback—Ferentz thumbing his nose at the AD and the fans who pressured him to replace his incompetent son.

And if anyone doubts that Ferentz would sabotage his own program, take a good look at how he’s managed his backup quarterbacks, or his public responses ever since Brian started getting heat. He is absolutely that petty. Ferentz being classy is a longstanding myth made up by a dopey fan base content with December bowl games and not being Indiana-level futile every year.

It looks like the end of the KF era is going to be one epic dumpster fire. And it couldn’t happen to a more deserving fandom than Iowa’s.

Maybe i'd have a convo about Kirk trying to sabotage his own program if they hired this guy out of the gate but I think he was shooting a lot higher,...just couldn't get anyone to agree to the offer.

Exactly. He hired a defensive analyst who was with GB a whole 1 year, who’d be let out of his employment IF he was offered the job 1 month ago. He wasn’t. I suspect he was the 4th one offered. The other 3 told KF no.

Iowa fans spent that last 3 months speculating they would get a PS5 for Christmas. They woke up to a box of broken up Barbie’s from goodwill.
