but what caught my attentions was these quotes:

The rub, to some fans, was that Mainieri ran off several Louisiana natives and another player, J.T. Wise, who transferred to Oklahoma and became an All-Big 12 first team catcher.</p>

"I didn't feel the heat," Mainieri said. "If people were talking about me, I didn't pay attention. My confidence in myself and our staff never waned. I just knew we needed to improve." </p>

Sounds very similar to our situation. Running off a few contributors, scoring a couple of upsets (won series against 2 regional teams, also beat USM and MTSU) while finishing with a sub-30 win record, playing some young players. future appears bright. While he did a tad bit better job overall than what Cohen did in the first season, I believe our situation here was also a tad bit worse than Lavall's sitation at Baton rouge. Thoughts?

as they would have signed in the fall of 2005. He didn't recruit them. Cohen inherited Routt. That's about it.

I think the biggest difference between State and LSU was that the LSU team that Manieri inherited had very little hitting, but decent pitching. We were the opposite. We had decent hitting and very little pitching.

Another difference is I don't think that anyone Cohen kicks off is going to be All-anything at another major conference, unless he kicks Routt off of the team.

I do know that Manieri basically cut his entire infield- including Nicholas Pontiff, which was a major PR feaux paux. Eventually, Pontiff was allowed to walk-on. So, there were some LSU fans upset with some of the things that Manieri was doing with the team, just like there are some MSU fans upset with how Cohen handled the team.

I think the other major difference is LSU fans weren't willing to wait seven years for Smoke to run their program in the ground. At the time Tulane had passed them, and I never thought that would happen.

What's more impressive to me is this: Within one month after Cohen was announced, Maneiri told a gathering of LUS alums on the coast, "Cohen has completely changed the way every program in the West has to recruit. He is doing to us [baseball coaches in the SECW] what Saban is doing in football."

Dear remaining pussies pining for polkie style goodie boys, the old estrogen-laden program is being killed off quickly. The people that know baseball know that Cohen will recruit like a f'n animal. We will be back. 2011, MFers.

Polk left us in much worse condition than Laval left LSU. Looking back at Mainieri's struggle his first year is one thing that really gives me hope for the future. That is a perfect example of how people on here that were giving Cohen the business for this year's debacle are full of ****. This past year cannot be taken into account. It was all on Polk, end of story.

think Cohen will find some pitching, or at least piece it together if he has to. I think we'll have more of the estrogen gone and I think we're going to be improved offensively as well as defensively to.
