I've had Suddenlink for several years. They offer 200 Mbps. I'm told, however, that it's shared and I actually have around 18Mbps at my house. I pay over $120 a month for this service. It includes a landline phone.

So....I'm told going with Frontier I get around 18Mbps as well and it's through a phone line, instead of coax....and it's around $50 a month and also includes a landline phone.

Anyone have Frontier or have a similar experience?

I'd really appreciate any advice .

Thanks!!!

Frontier sucks in our area. Comcast has the most stable and fastest internet here.

Get rid of your landline and negotiate your price down. Avoid frontier.

You should have incredible negotiating power right now. Their stock price has tanked and they have been losing subscribers consistently. I doubt it gets any better for them. They just had to give their wv union employees a big raise as well. Many of those who haven't helped in the decline of their out of date product. Call and try to get a better deal.

Maybe check into Ooma for your phone. It's a device that costs $100-ish but after you have it you get phone service for free, assuming you have an Internet provider. Actually, while the phone service itself is free, you do have to pay taxes, which for me is about $5 per month.

IIRC, my Ooma cost me $90 and the charged me $40 to shift my phone number over to it (because I wanted to keep the phone number I already had). So that's $130. But I had been paying $20 per month for telephone service (to Vonage) and now I pay $5. I save $15 per month, so over 9 months the Ooma paid for itself. I've had the Ooma for a couple years now so I'm probably ahead about $200 and counting.

Here's another thing. If you're paying your provider $8 or so to rent a modem from them, that's $100 a year. You can buy a good modem for $100 and it pays for itself within a year. I did that about three years ago so a couple years ago my modem had paid for itself and now I perpetually pay $8 less per month. And there is satisfaction in not having any of the cable company's junk in my house. I have NOTHING in my house that belongs to the cable company or that I pay rent for.
