“My mom doesn’t want me to stay in New York. She wants me to go to another place she knows I’ll stay focused and be focused. That was really it,” Sanders told The Post. “It definitely was a tough decision. It was really hard. Decommitting wasn’t really on my mind at first, but then a lot of things started happening. It was sitting down with my mom and having a serious conversation about it.

“A lot of violence going around my neighborhood, things like that. St. John’s is probably about 20 minutes away from my house, so my mom didn’t want me to be around a lot of negativity going around, like my friends being around me, telling me things going on. She wanted me to be focused [in college].”

At John’s is the only on campus place that I’ve been to (women’s game) you have to go thru a metal detector to get in the gym.

The campus atmosphere is that of a commuter school or even a community college. Other than playing some games at the Garden, and being close to NYC (if you are into that), I can't see any reason for a kid to want to play there.

Every single college environment in American has pluses and minuses. It's an individual choice.

You can probably find an equal number of people who love or hate the 5 campus setup that make up Rutgers.

It's always going to be a sales job. We get kids in every sport that have other options at more aesthetically pleasing campuses. Gotta sell your program.

Part of that will be answered on December 12. Who did a better job in putting the pieces of the puzzle together? I’m thinking Pike!

The mother wanted him away from his "friends". Maybe she is the smartest one in this equation.
