Great article. Thanks!
Ditto.I don’t understand his comment about SF. What does that even mean?
yea, but it's like knowing an umpire's zone. gotta adjust. It was an interesting read, for sure. But I don’t think this official came off well at all. Everything was personal, very thin skinned. He definitely wants to be buttered up by the coaches and told how wonderful he is.

Given this read, it's not surprising we regularly get screwed.

I also hated the comments about so and so is a Big Ten guy. Had to adjust to the Big 10, etc. Shows that idiotic Big 10 culture and bias
I know....huge conspiracy against our beloved Huskers....involving several conferences over several decades.Given this read, it's not surprising we regularly get screwed.
Get out with your nonsense. You know exactly what he was saying and that isn’t it.I know....huge conspiracy against our beloved Huskers....involving several conferences over several decades.
unsportsmanlike conduct should be renamed 'bo pelini-ing'Here is the video of the play. Not exactly how he painted it in the article.
Yep, the guy is a walking obscenity. But this was some serious revisionist history in the article.unsportsmanlike conduct should be renamed 'bo pelini-ing'
Except that what he's saying I've been hearing for pretty much my entire paying-attention-to-college-football lifeGet out with your nonsense. You know exactly what he was saying and that isn’t it.
Looks like he remembered it pretty well to me. Two officials signaled two different teams possession. They announce Husker ball. At 57 seconds, you can see Bo mouth "I will have your job" just like he said. Then he gets a penalty for that. What did I miss? Here is the video of the play. Not exactly how he painted it in the article.

Wait, you mean to tell me nebraska is the only dan Baer that believes the refs have to in for them? Every other fan base in America feels the refs are fair and impartial? Wow, must have missed that.Except that what he's saying I've been hearing for pretty much my entire paying-attention-to-college-football life
Once a dick, always a dick, and he's never going to change. Can't wait for his next page long sob story about how he used to be a big fan but now it doesn't rule his life like it once did, yet he hangs around a Husker message board, thus it rules him to this day. Hilarious.Wait, you mean to tell me nebraska is the only dan Baer that believes the refs have to in for them? Every other fan base in America feels the refs are fair and impartial? Your constant bashing of Nebraska fans being Nebraska fans is getting old. why don’t you get a new screen name like Iowa_Reality or Miami_Reality even and bother some other fan base who believes the exact same thing you see happening on this board.

It happens everywhere, but you act like only Nebraska fans are like this. Grow up.
Livin' in your head, rent free....which is quite the bargain, since it's so roomy.Once a dick, always a dick, and he's never going to change. I predicted such a response from you...complete with name calling, using such original terms as "dick".
Still fascinated at your age in discovering that the internet can be used to call people names from the safety of a keyboard?
Anybody who doesn't think that Pelini regularly cost his team yards, possessions and points with his abuse of officials would be wrong.Let’s see.
First off he recalled a game Nebraska was favored big in, but it was a close game: Nebraska was actually up two scores and in the red zone to score again.
In the article, he said he and another official pointed in opposite directions at the same time. On the video, you can see the official over the pile points Nebraska’s direction 8 times, before he comes in and signals the other way. Hell, he even looks right at him pointing Nebraska’s way before dramatically signaling the other way.
Ye, Pelini is a raving lunatic, that constantly deserves to be penalized.
I'm not sure what to make of the not drink a beer with Scott Frost comment either. I thought his take on Frost overall was very patronizing. In general, I don't know that it's really helpful to know what a referee's takes on specific coaches is. They can have their opinions, but airing them out in public, even if you're retiring, I don't think really does anything to help increase confidence in them. Singling out certain coaches for praise and others for criticism causes one to question whether every coach(and their teams) are treated the same or whether they play favorites.Yeah the Pelini stuff? Obvious.
The rest? Please.... More of the Big 10 sucking themselves off.
The Frost comments almost seem gleefull. Like the official is happy that cocky newcomer Nebraska coach hasnt done as well as hoped. Not sure the not drink a beer with him comment even means.
Here’s the thing........Here's the thing.......
I'm not going to point at the closet of others while our own is dirty.....especially when we are supposed to be the greatest fans in America....so, no, I think I'm going to stay here, but thanks.
Blaming refs is for losers.
Helpful hint....there's an ignore button. Feel free to use it. That way you don't have to read my posts.
Here’s the thing........
At some point it must get tiring to be the self-proclaimed husker fan police, doesn’t it? If, as you have stated previously in a thread a few weeks back, you are no longer the fan you used to be (in that you don’t get too bent out of shape anymore whether they win or lose), why do you feel compelled to be the foil against those who are more passionate about the huskers than yourself?
If you have lost the passion, why go after those who still have the passion you no longer have? Do you realize how petty that makes you seem?
Like I said he is a walking penalty, a lunatic. But my post was more to point out how inaccurate this officials account of the incident was.Anybody who doesn't think that Pelini regularly cost his team yards, possessions and points with his abuse of officials would be wrong.
Yes, the SF take was ridiculous and insulting. I also thought his take on the Harbaugh incident was completely out of line. Stating that Harbaugh should act better, or more how he wants, because of how much money Harbaugh makes. Coaches are penalized if they treat officials poorly during the game, fined if they criticize them in press conferences. Yet, B1G officials make good money and do not have to answer to seemingly anyone and then this guy bashed the coaches, that aren’t his buddies, on his way out.I still don't understand from an officials standpoint, how Frost needed "climatization". How as an official he sees Frost needed to get used to the fact he is now the head of a major program in a MAJOR conference. How the f@ck does that effect his job as an official? Would he want to have beers with him after the game? Maybe not. Uhhh ok. Why?
And RoFLMAo that this guy thinks that out of 150-200 plays in a game, they miss four calls.
Guy seemed overly concerned with how much coaches make and whether or not they are friendly "gentlemen" that jerk him off.Yes, the SF take was ridiculous and insulting. Made me laugh... good one.Guy seemed overly concerned with how much coaches make and whether or not they are friendly "gentlemen" that jerk him off.
I did like his response to "did you ever want to officiate in the NFL?"
--
The NFL is significantly more money, the difference between making $50,000 and $200,000 in a year. And you get union protection.
Everything else about officiating in the Big Ten is better. We’ve got bands, we’ve got cheerleaders, we’re on a college campus. The atmosphere is a different feeling from an NFL stadium. And our crowds are bigger.
So you kept applying and they kept saying no, huh?
To me, this furthers my thoughts that given that these guys are human and act accordingly, you can gain an advantage on the field by doing a little "glad handling" with them. They can hold grudges or get a soft spot for someone just like anyone else.
Almost as petty as dredging up an video in order to re-hash a game Nebraska won from whatever year it was. Here’s the thing........

I often do use it. Far more of an adult response that demanding that someone no longer post, or calling them names. He can always use the ignore feature that he likes to croak about from time to time.
Considering the official in the article has been assigned to ref some pretty big games, I doubt it was because the NFL said no.Guy seemed overly concerned with how much coaches make and whether or not they are friendly "gentlemen" that jerk him off.

Been over this before. It is what it is. I'm not changing, so deal with it how you must. Here’s the thing........
