from our “student athletes” that have basically put all of MSU in a very bad position. We’re all going to deal with the punishment of their bad decisions. I get that they have to go through suspensions and whatnot. But there was once a time when people that made mistakes would be compelled to provide an apology for their mistakes.

Where is the apology from the guys that caused the problem? I’m looking forward to it in order to come together. Maybe it’s just me...

It's just you. They are being punished. No need to have them paraded out so you can virtue signal to everyone.

I blame nobody but the players, but their names aren’t even allowed to be released so they sure aren’t making a public apology.

I know this will not be a popular opinion, so flame away, but I think they should have all been suspended from school. I suspect that any non-athlete would have been suspended.

I can see why the pragmatic approach kept them on the team. If we’re honest, a lesser number of lower rung players would have been kicked to the curb. But because we rely on some of these guys, they couldn’t pull the trigger. That’s the reality.

Some of y’all are being extremely naive. Although what they did was “wrong”, it happens at every D1 college football program. It happened when I was at state and it’s happening across every school in the country. And it will continue to happen until the end of time. It’s not really realistic to ask a SEC football player to go to weights at 5 AM, class, team meetings, individual meetings, practice, treatment, road games, and oh yeah by the way you better study for that chemistry test along with 6 other class assignments and test. Some high IQ student athletes might be able to pull it off but there’s not many who do. People who are shocked that this is happening have no idea man. Don’t get mad at the “student athletes”. They’re here to play football and to make Millions for the University and to win football games. Thats it. We got sloppy.

And I will assure you that there will be waaay more athletic departments interested in "how'd they get caught ?" than "how can we help our 'student athletes' do better in 17ing chemistry". This was just a CF...now we pay.

When I taught at State, cheaters typically failed the exam or course. In a large group cheating case I am aware of, the students failed the course and were put on probation. I am not aware of someone being suspended - my guess it would take something more significant.

Yes. On the surface our administration will say all the right things but I promise you behind the scenes it’s “y’all better fix this sh$t”. Ultimately it falls on Moorhead’s shoulders. He’s the CEO of the company. He better figure it the 17 out.

Mark Keenum is the CEO of the company. If we've designed our online classes so that it's that easy to cheat, we've got some major work to do to clean this mess up on the academic side. I doubt 10 football players & 1 basketball player are the only students who have cheated on an online exam.

No these aren’t the only players that have had a tutor do some course work for them. They have mandatory “study hall” for a reason. So they can all sit down and have one on one time with the tutors so the can get some “help” with their homework and test. Again, it happens everywhere.

From the perspective of MSU Atletic Department, the less we talk publicly about this, the better. Nothing good can come from discussing this in public. We can talk about this privately within the department and make the necessary changes to our tutoring program. Otherwise, let's put it behind us and move forward.

From the perspective of the players, they sure as 17 don't need to be talking publicly about this. When the timing is right, the players can apologize to the team privately.

I don't think they need to come forward, but any player who wants to release his own name is free to do so. If starters are involved, we'll figure it out anyway.

If the university hasn't officially released the names, then I would think that the involved parties are told not to self release their names in apology statements.

The tutor threw them under the bus on purpose from what I heard. Why should they apologize ? Surely no one here thought these guys were taking all the tests and doing all the homework on their own ? Have any of you ever attended a class with a few college athletes ? Most of them haven't taken classes seriously since the 9th grade. Join the real world people

I dont know what the players have been told, but the University cannot legally release the names due to FERPA requirements. The students are not legally prohibited from discuss their own involvement. But, yeah, they may have been advised to keep quiet.
