Torrington, WY joins Western Conference(Gering,Scottsbluff,Chadron,Alliance,Sidney) to replace Mitchell, NE

Ive never seen another school outside of a state join a different conference. Thoughts?

Good fit. I’d almost argue you could at Sterling, Co to the conference and you’d have a strong conference.

If I remember right, I think the Frontier or River Cities Conference might have have some Council Bluffs, Iowa schools in at one point. And then doesn't the Panhandle Conference also include a small South Dakota school?

Anyways, I definitely find it interesting, and I'd support these kinds of moves out west at least. It's already normal for western schools to schedule some particular out of state schools every year, so this really just enlists an out of state school into the conference tournament.

Heck, I'd be interested if we took a good number of out of state schools surrounding our panhandle and fit a good-sized league for scheduling purposes. Call it the Inter-State League of teams from Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, and maybe SD? They already schedule each other anyways.

Edgemont (South Dakota) is in the Panhandle Conference.

Whiting (Iowa) and Heartland Christian (Iowa) are in the Frontier Conference

Interesting. I like it. There was a conference in northern Nebraska and southern South Dakota years ago that had Butte NE, Fairfax S.D. Bonesteel S.D., etc. I think maybe Spencer and Naper as well but not positive. In legion baseball several teams from Canada play in the same league as some Montana teams.

Furthermore, there are some California schools near Lake Tahoe that are part of the Nevada school activities association because of travel concerns etc.
