Right at the beginning he says the o-line did not get blocking calls out to account for a defense overload on one side of the line. Because he felt they were hurrying to stay up tempo.
Why the phuck does this sound so damn complicated?
Just hit somebody!
Redirect that and make the call to put somebody on their ***.
These guys are making a mountain out of a molehill.
They also need to get laid.
It isn't complicated. But there is a choice that has to be made. Slow down the tempo a little or keeping going three and out. FWIW, I'm all in on up tempo.

Excuses.
We didn't put any hats on any of the Michigan defenders. Period.
I can attribute that to "scheme" or I can take responsibility and put somebody on their *** or they can put me on their ***.
Good offensive lines play with aggression. Watch Oregon against Stanford. Those guys played great. Same scheme, and eventually got out-talented, but busted their asses.
It's a mindset.
Maybe somebody needs their asses kicked. I am not sure. I just fired a salesperson at my company and he was an excuse-making, lazy machine. Looked great on paper too.
Less noise from the OL please.
If you are the better, more physical team you want more plays. If you are getting your *** handed to you every time the ball is snapped you want fewer plays

They wanted faster tempo. More plays.
I'm sure our Huskers players work a hell of a lot harder than your fired salesman. If you're a Husker fan, don't be so quick to throw 22 year olds and younger under the bus.
I didn't. Just hit somebody. That is the definition of being an offensive lineman. You block people.
Therein lies the problem.
What's the problem? The Huskers invite media to their facility and the coaches make players available. This has happened for decades. If they can't handle a reporter's question then they are probably bigger wimps than their critics already claim. Also, can you imagine being Tanner and having to listen to this constant badgering all year long.
Stop badgering. Go write a blog or a news column. Win a Pulitzer.
They stick microphones in these kids faces like they have nothing else to do with their lives, which they don't.
Get a hobby. Go hunting. Watch the sunset. No wondempsr these players get agitated and burned out.
You can't hit somebody you can't reach. Did you ever play the o-line? I did in high school.

If you watch the Troy game our best two offensive drives were at the end of the first half and the drive before the pick to end the game in the second half. In both instances we played at an extremely fast tempo, not allowing the defense time to adjust. It isn't complicated. But there is a choice that has to be made. You know what, if Farmer truly believes that and he means what he says, then tell the coaches the following...
"Hey coaches, you guys are putting me in a position where I cannot succeed. I don't appreciate it. You guys suck. Take away my scholly, I don't give a ****, I just want to play football and hit somebody!"
Yea, right
Sounds like more excuses to me. What I've noticed watching them is this offensive line takes about 3 steps and then just quits playing. The steps they do take are a lot of times predetermined and slow and if the defensive line does something they don't expect, they completely give up. I know Frost wants them to play fast, but they haven't even done a particularly good job at that, and this is about the weakest college O line unit I've ever seen.
That's just the effort part of it, I haven't even mentioned that are offensive line is confused on who to block on almost every play. If there's any kind of blitz at all, it's a guarantee someone will get through because there will be 3 guys blocking 1 guy, another guy blocking no one, and multiple defenders coming in untouched. This is no doubt the worst offensive line in college football, and from what I've seen they don't have the fight to prove that statement wrong.
Or he can tell Austin and Frost they have give the o-line a bit more time to make their calls. Especially since they're only three games in with a new staff and system.
I would encourage everyone to listen to what he says. You will hear what you want to hear. He talks about the balance between getting the right protection calls with tempo, and that they need to do it better.
What he is talking about is an OLine that is still learning, and sometimes the communication breaks down. When it does it leads to disaster.
He didn’t say it, but I would imagine if they had more time they might catch the overloaded lines. An argument at this point for less up tempo.
My argument, not what Farmer says, is that if the goal is to be up tempo, then that’s what you run, and you know you are going to take your lumps. The protections will be missed at times, and you will pay the price. But you will learn from the missed assignments a lot faster.
I’m a tennis player. A long time ago I changed the way I held my racket to hit my forehand. It sucked big time, and for 3 months I was terrible. It was tough, too, because I was having the best season I had ever had at that point, but completely went in the tank. Once I finally got comfortable with the new way to hit the ball, my game took off. Played 4 years of college tennis and never lost a conference match. Granted, it was NAIA, so not nearly as impressive as it sounds, but the point is, there are going to be growing pains. We are seeing that clearly.

That is exactly what I just said, you said it in a more Shakespearen fashion.
Either way, his job is to block. Hit somebody. Period.
You have to reach somebody before you can hit them.
If the freshman guards are close to playing, get these sad sacks out and put someone in there who to be there and playing. Time to cut the dead weight.
I wouldn't claim that the media is always pure in their pursuit of a story but most of the time they are simply asking questions which are on the minds of most fans. Presently, those questions involve losses, mistakes, or perceived shortcomings. If you are a coach or a player and can't face the music when the play is sloppy and the losses pile up, either stop doing interviews altogether or stop providing material for more questions. It doesn't help.
Ask Bo. The Husker media sucks.
Of course, I love their online division, and I don't see Callahan here![]()
I doubt that's really the problem though. We've gone slow plenty of times and they still get their asses beat and have missed assignments everywhere. We haven't even run much of it this year, so any excuses about the hurryup are just that, excuses.Or he can tell Austin and Frost they have give the o-line a bit more time to make their calls. Especially since they're only three games in with a new staff and system. Do you really think Scott Frost would totally dismiss Farmer and Frost?
And the world has come to this.
Everybody knows the way to win a fight is to knock someone out before they have a chance to hit you first.
GBR

This guy. Last sentence above. Drunk.
