I'm really interested to see how this plays out.

An example I could see playing out - It's better to be a big fish at a smaller school (top 25% of the roster at MSU) than the small fish at a big school (bottom 25% at Bama - where your ride the bench for 3 years). Think Nigel Knott, Scott Lashley, etc... maybe those guys don't ever get in our top 25%, but coming in, they'd likely have some unique NIL opportunities at State versus Bama.

A fear I have, is that the money at those schools (Bama, for example) is so large, that they'll overpay for the bottom half of their roster to make sure the depth chart is sufficiently stocked.

I think as this all shakes out, the big money is going to the student athletes with lots of social media followers. Need a big investment in the Athletic Department at Mississippi State in content creation coaches. Help teach student athletes how to create great social media content and grow followers.

$250k per post for Instagram users with +1 million followers. It seems ridiculous to me, but its the way of the world. Mississippi State will never draw in the booster payout/NIL money from the car dealerships and local restaurant chains like bigger schools... But if you can figure out how to have players build their own social media brand, you can dangle real big money in front of them... Come to Mississippi State, home of the top 5 social media influencers in college athletics who earn over a million dollars a year. Sounds silly, but I promise you with 2-3 years of coaching, a guy with this much swagger could get there...

This has already been going on.

It’s already been going on at your Bama’s and, to a lesser extent, LSU / Florida / UGA. It’s now going to be going on at Auburn / South Carolina / Tennessee / Kentucky / A&M as well.

Football wise, we are only at most maybe one rung of the ladder below most of those other schools in terms of competitiveness, but we’re about 5 rungs below them in money. South Carolina is a great example. Athletic department budget is 30% higher than MSU. Way more alumni. Way bigger state with a way bigger college town. Even a school like that has a major advantage over MSU in terms of what financial opportunities they can offer recruits now.

Of course Bama is still going to dominate….that isn’t the issue. The big problem for schools like MSU and OM is how much higher up the totem pole these other middle of the pack schools now are compared to us.

At some point it'll all come back to the 'football' part of it. If you can't play, you'll end up losing your brand, unless you bring something else to the table, in which you'll likely get distracted and have your spot taken on the actual football team.

This is absolutely going to work itself out, and many players will lose themselves in the process. But I have just accepted it for what it is.
