All-time low wind chill for the U.S. and currently the coldest place on the planet.

I'm a few hours away from there (and at a much lower elevation), and when I tried to take my dog out earlier tonight, he looked at me and, I swear he said "you serious, Clark?" and headed right back inside.

Close but he is a little off... I don't believe the heights are that low. They are 477 DM there. That's extremely low, but definitely higher than Mount Washington's summit of 6,200 feet. 477 decameters is 15,000 feet or so. Still amazing weather though and mother nature never disappoints.

that is an amazing place - I have also been there in the summer and wearing a coat on top. The whole 3 degrees drop per 1,000 ft does not seem to apply there. The White Mtns are amazing. Looks as close to the Rockies as you are going to see in the East. I know the Smokies arse taller but these are serious mountains.

The crew working there are actually in a tough circumstance. no room to need emergency supplies. I imagine the shifts are many days or even weeks. even changing shifts must depend on the situation. they have been doing this for years, so probably have figured this all out.

Is there much wildlife at that altitude in the summer? I tried looking it up and it said moose, black bear, martens and red squirrels. But I don’t believe much would survive the weather conditions I saw in that video.
